This is definitely what you want to hear two weeks before your season opener. Here's a small article from Steve Reed of the Gaston Gazette from today's Panther kick-off luncheon:
The season has yet to begin, but OT Jordan Gross raved about the team’s chemistry on Friday at the 9th annual Charlotte Touchdown Club’s Kickoff Luncheon at the Charlotte Convention Center.
Gross told a crowd of about 1,000 sponsors and fans, "This team is closer already than any other team I’ve been on at this point in the season. We had a tougher training camp and we have a lot of young guys and I think that has lent itself toward having to reach out to more people and get to know each other."
"We have a little Nerf hoop in the O-line section during training camp and we had a whole team tournament going. Defensive guys were cracking jokes on offensive guys and I think that’s something that will show on the field. I can’t promise a perfect season but I know this team is going to win some big games this year and make some plays with guys you don’t even know their names right now. And that is exciting to be a part of, especially for somebody who has been here eight seasons now. It’s something that I can honestly say I’m excited to be a part of."
TE Jeff King, by the way, apparently won the Nerf hoop tournament, according to RB DeAngelo Williams. King has an edge as he played a little basketball at Virginia Tech.
