Question about Observer coverage of Panthers

I am sorry if this has been asked and answered here somewhere previously but I have a question I was hoing someone knew the answer too. It seems like Darin Gantt (formerly just Rock Hill Herald) is the only Charlotte observer reporter covering the Panthers at training camp. The pictures of Charles Chandler and David Scott seem to have been taken down from the Observer's Inside the Panthers Blog and there have been no Tweets from Chandler since before the 4th of July.  Does anyone have any infomation on this? What is the deal. Both Chandler and Scott still appear on the online listing of Observer sports staff but it seems as if they are no longer working. Please tell me this isn't true and I am just jumping to conclusions. Anyone know whats up?

I just find it hard to believe...

That the hometown newspaper of a NFL team would only have one part time reporter that they apparently share with a neighboring town covering the team. Fowler and Sorenson doent really count because they are more opinion than reporting in my opinion.

Hey, don’t forget we had Pat Yasinkas… who went onto ESPN to report… he kind of did ok when he was local… now, he kind of isn’t ok reporting on the NFC South.

The Observer covers the Panthers?

"If you ask Jets' CB Darrelle Revis, there is no one who is harder to cover one-on-one than Steve Smith. That has to mean something coming from last year's runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year."

No they TRY to cover the Panthers

but then give up ’cause its too hard.

Almost everything is Gantt and it's re-posted at the Herald or vice-versa.

There’s just about no other Panthers content. That’s ok, it means more CSR readers. =)

I like Gantt, for the most part

except he is still sniffing Jake’s jock, and he always downplays Moore’s 6-2 record.

There must be a reason that he seems to be the only remaining Panthers beat reporter.

Unless he is actually killing off the rest of them. And I like him when he goes on the MacAttack on WFNZ

Charles Chandler

Charles moved to Russia with his family. He wrote an article about a few weeks ago. As for more Panther news other than the CO ,go to Gaston Gazette Steve Reed does a excellent job coving the Panthers.

It is hard for newspapers to keep afloat

let alone have more than one reporter cover a team. Plus it is easier for regional papers to pick up the stories from Gantt or the AP rather than assign reporters of their own to camp or games.

He'd say "Oi!" to the punks
and "Oi!" to the skins
but "Oi!" to the world and everybody wins.
