The Rookie Symposium - The NFL's Orientation Program
The Panthers rookies are there through the 30th. An excellent write-up on the Rookie Symposium:
"The new draftees are about to get a crash course on all of the dos and don'ts in their transition from college to the pros. The symposium focuses on helping rookies adjust to life in the NFL by bringing in guest speakers and experts in a number of different areas to discuss various issues."

No way could I be rich and famous..
I’d have enough little ones to fill my own football team after the first year or two.
Overall Panthers Draft Grade: A
This is a really nice program.
Too bad it’s only 4 days and it’s before the rookies hit the field. It’d be nice if the vets did this every couple years as a refresher.
This is good for a start but they should expand the program...
But the NFL ought to assign each one of these guys a life coach and a financial advisor (assuming they don’t already have one) to give advice and counsel. The repeated follow up would stick a lot better than a 4 day seminar.
the fact that they're offering the program is nice enough
giving everyone a counselor costs too much…. frankly, if a player wasn’t going to give the game his all, then he doesn’t deserve to play
NFL player benefits are garbage
All large companies offer these types of services (“employee assistance programs”), I don’t see why the NFL shouldn’t? I would like to see a mandated meeting with a financial advisor every 6 months though. That would be dirt cheap, and the league could very easily afford it. We’re talking way less than $700 / year per player. That’s not even a drop in the bucket.
