Panthers Very Early 2010 Season Record Prediction Thread

Jaxon: What the hey, lets do this once a month just because its fun...

After a very disappointing 2009 season, there are some concerns with the 2010 season. Some feel we are setting ourselves up for failure but others think that the Panthers can show how good they truly are and get into the playoffs. And some fans might even think we are good enough to go to the superbowl, although this is unlikely it is not out of the question. As we fans know, the Panthers do their best when there are no expectations. I am here to hopefully provide a reasonable and realistic guess of how the 2010 season will turn out.

Like everyone says, more after the jump...

Brings back old memories doesn't it?

But no matter how that 2010 season turns out there is one definite fact, Jake Delhomme can't be blamed, instead we have a stable of quarterbacks that can be harassed when things aren't going the way they should be, hopefully this isn't what actually happens, I have much faith in the quarterback situation.

The 2009 schedule was rated 2nd most difficult before it started, and coming off a 12-4 record the year before the Panthers were expected to at least above average. Later the season would end with a disappointing 8-8 record that would also result in many drastic changes in the Panther locker room.

This year the schedule is rated as being one of the easier schedules in the league. This should definitely be helpful for some of the younger players. I don't want to guess what the exact score will be because I'm not getting that right. Instead I will try to estimate the point difference. Why don't we start predicting what's going to happen.

Overall Record: 11-5 | 2nd in Division | 5th seed in playoffs

Week by Week analysis:

Week 1: Away: Giants: W - The Giants just aren't what they used to be. The pass rush isn't as frighting and our run game is much better. This won't be a blowout but it shouldn't be too close. My guess is we win by 7-12 points.

Week 2: Home: Bucs: W - Tampa is still in a rebuilding phase and they should be no problem to our Panthers. Im hoping for a decisive win, maybe 20-24 point victory.

Week 3: Home: Bengals: L - We just can't win them all, and this is where the lack of experience starts to play a factor. I have a feeling the younger players will start to get cocky and the Bengals will steal this from us. But they are a solid playoff team with a good defense, especially the CB's, and a solid offense that can put points up. Close game, we lose by 3-7 points.

Week 4: Away: Saints: L - As much as I want to say that we're going to go into New Orleans and beat the defending champs, I just don't see it happening. They are good and we have to give them credit for that, but it won't be a blowout. Lose by a margin of 7-12.

Week 5: Home: Bears: W - This will be the game that every Panther fan is looking forward to. A reunion with Peppers and Harris creates a game with many story lines. I say Gross shuts down Peppers and Smith catches two TD's behind Harris (nothing against Harris, I actually liked him a lot but he is relatively slow) and Everette Brown gets 3 sacks in the game to show Peppers that we don't need him anymore. (that might not happen but a guy can dream right?) The Panthers win by 7-14 points.

Week 6: BYE: After a good start the Panthers lost their momentum but gained it back after beating the Bears, Matt Moore remains starter after showing he is more then competent to lead this team.

Week 7: Home: 49ers: W - With the Bye Week to prepare the Panthers defeat a solid 49er team. Soon after Jon Beason gets his extension, if he doesn't already have it by then. The Panthers win by around 7-10 points.

Week 8: Away: Rams: W - Another rebuilding team with many question marks. We run all over them and win by 20-27 points.

Week 9: Home: Saints: L - Once again the Panthers play the defending champs and once again they come up short. This time it is much closer and the young Matt Moore couldn't pull off the comeback victory that was so common in the old days with Jake. A very close one, 2-5 points.

Week 10: Away: Bucs: W - The Bucs are slightly better then before and this won't be as easy. By this time I'm predicting that their young DT's will develop and be able to slow our run game, but that won't be enough. The Panthers win by 14-20 points.

Week 11: Home: Ravens: L - This team is good, very good. Actually they're my pick for the AFC team that reaches the Superbowl. With a fierce D and the newly acquired WR Boldin, the Ravens beat the Panthers in what should of been a much closer game. My guess, 20-24 points.

Week 12: Away: Browns: W - Another team that is in the rebuilding phase. Although this team does have our old friend Jake. I really am not sure whether he'll be starter or not but needless to say the Panthers win either way, maybe by around 14-20 points.

Week 13: Away: Seahawks: W - This team has too many uncertainties and just won't be able to beat us. With an aging QB and a mediocre D, the Hawks lose by 10-17 points.

Week 14: Home: Falcons: W - I'm going to take the easy way out for the two games between us and the Falcons and let home field advantage decide the two games. We win this one because it is in Charlotte. Maybe by 5-11 points.

Week 15: Home: Cardinals: W - Earlier in Arizona's season they will realize that their QB position wasn't solidified and turn out to have a very disappointing season. Losing key pieces on defense doesn't held either. The Panthers win by 12-17 points.

Week 16: Away: Steelers: W - This will be when the youth start to prove themselves and show they can win the close games. It seems that it has been forever since these guys were Superbowl Champs and I think it might be a while before they get back there again. The Panthers win by 1-5.

Week 17: Away: Falcons: L - It is now the Falcons turn to use home field advantage, although it won't matter. At this point it will be impossible for the Panthers to win the NFC South and we will have to settle for a WildCard spot. We lose by 7-14 points.

I understand that some will not agree with all of this, and I am not saying that I will be right (if I am right for any one of these I will be satisfied). This is what should happen at least in my eyes, but there are always so many factors in losing or winning a game. I will keep from making any post-season predictions because I want to see if we get there first but as you can see I do think the Panthers have what it takes.

So I ask the readers...What do you think the outcome of the 2010 regular season will be?
