Colt McCoy at 48 according to National Football Post

I don't really know what to think. I would not want to draft a quarterback that high, since there are still some reliable QB available that can back-up Moore (in FA) and we also have other pressing needs. In my opinion though, I don't think I'll be too unhappy with this pick if the Panthers decide to go with McCoy here. McCoy's raised his draft stock in the last couple of weeks, and I'm not surprised that he's a potential late first round pick. He's got an accurate arm, has good foot work, and he's a proven winner and a great leader.
Anyway, how much should we buy into this? I remember seeing an interview where McCoy mentioned that the Panthers might be interested. Would you be unhappy with this pick?

He has Tebow going 9th overall...
…so I wouldn’t read much into him saying Carolina is taking McCoy.

48 needs to be WR or DE/DT
I think McCoy can be a productive NFL QB if given the chance to mature and learn behind a veteran sorta like what SD did with Philip Rivers or Green Bay did with Aaron Rodgers. We don’t have that luxury. He’d be a good addition if we didnt have a glaring need at WR2.
Proctology is a medical profession that specializes in diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus. Law professors call them asses.
McCoy is only going to be good in a shotgun spread.
He lacks the arm to excel at any other scheme.

120 TDs+16000+ passing yards=Good
89 INT's+27 lost fumbles=Bad
Most comeback wins since 2003=Priceless
QB in the second just doesn't make sense
That means any QB, not neccesarily McCoy (though his skill set doesn’t fit into the Panthers’ needs)
I would be dissapointed only because it meant we failed to address other areas that were more pressing. I have Colt McCoy graded as the 5th QB in the draft on my board behind Bradford, Clausen, Jarrett Brown and Tony Pike

I'd put him 3rd on that list
Brown looked horrid in the Senior Bowl, completely confused and no confidence, IMO.
Not excited about taking any QB with this pick and I’m doubting the Panthers so that. It immediately creates a controversy and throws doubt at newly announced starter Matt Moore. A late round QB pick would not do that but a 2nd rounder would

I would not be upset...
Mel Kiper Jr. has stated that he believes McCoy will be a better pro than Bradford, Clausen, and Tebow. This draft is deep at D-line and WR…The FO could make it work.
Kiper isn't a draft God.
Just because he says a guy will be good doesn’t mean it’s true. He had us drafting a TE for three years.

Maybe because it is an area of need for us
I’m not saying it’s as much of a need as WR or DE. But we have not had dominant, well-rounded TE since Walls. Don’t hate on Kiper, it’s every blogger’s favorite past-time. Just pay attention on the draft weekend, while Kiper is providing stats about 6th and 7th rounders while the rest of the analysts are left holding their dicks with little to contribute.
Kiper is amazing on draft day at knowing the skillsets of players and where they’ll fall in the draft, however, he’s consistently proven himself to be lacking when projecting how players will do at the next level- which is why people make fun of him.

This, and the hair. Gotta make fun of the hair.
As long as the Panthers don't trade for Michael Vick or draft Tim Tebow, my sanity (what's left of it, at least) will remain intact for 2010.
Kiper
I could see Kiper ending up in the looney bin, rambling off stats and numbers constantly in a locked cell with padded walls.
Tebow
I think Tebow would make a great TE, like a Frank Wychek.
why do people think tebow can become a TE
i don’t follow him too closely, but the man is a QB and just because he has a frame larger than other QBs doesn’t mean he’s fit to be a TE…
This
He’s a gadget player at the worst, QB at the best.
As for Kiper, Aussie pretty much explained it.

I like McCoy in 2nd round
It makes sense to draft a Wr but there really arent any quality receievers in the draft outside of Golden Tate and Dez Bryant
