Stewart expects to be ready for start of camp

Following surgery to remedy his troublesome Achilles tendon on Jan. 20, RB Jonathan Stewart expects to be ready for the start of training camp in July, according to the Charlotte Observer.

That also means Stewart will miss offseason work with the Panthers for this third consecutive offseason. He missed the entire preseason in 2009 due to the Achilles injury and was recovering from a toe injury as a rookie in 2008.

Stewart still managed to rush for a career-high 1,133 yards despite missing work last offseason and sitting out numerous practices during the season. He had 206 yards in Week 16 against the Giants and was on his way to another huge game with 125 yards against the Saints in the finale when he tweaked the injury and was forced out of the game.
