First 3 Rounds Analysis

This is probably the least agreed upon draft ever yielded by the Panthers.  I have never seen so many people gush about a draft, and at the same time have so many people lose faith in a draft.  While I want to be the first, I find myself one of the latter.  However, allow me to explain myself after the jump.

Round 2 (Pick 48) - Jimmy Clausen:  "Jimmy Clausen is a franchise quarterback", "This is the steal of the draft", "most pro-ready QB coming in", "top 10 pick at 48".  These are a few of the phrases I have read about Jimmy Clausen.  I, however, am one of the doubters.  Not a doubter in Jimmy Clausen's talent and ability.  The problem I have with this, is the sudden lack of loyalty the Panthers are showing the anyone.  During the offseason, we cut just about every Vet over age 30, even guys like  Hoov and Moose.  We then say we have full faith in Matt Moore, and we are handing him the keys to the driver seat.  What happens?  We slap Matt Moore in the face by drafting Jimmy Clausen with our first pick.  This isn't my only problem.  Clausen, while he may have said some great things in his interview (who doesn't aside from Taylor Mays), he still seems to me as a cocky, pretty-boy.  I hope Matt Moore succeeds, and I hope Jimmy Clausen becomes trade bait or something.  I loved Matt Moore, and I think it is too bad he is getting shafted like this.

Round 3 (Pick 78) - Brandon LaFell:  While I wanted Golden Tate (I think everyone knows this after my drooling over him in the thread), I LOVE LOVE LOVE this pick.  Big, strong, blocking WR who will go across the middle and will go up in the air to get the ball.  Love love love love love this pick right here.  I have no beef at all.

Round 3 (Pick 89) - Armanti Edwards:  Before I get bashed for bashing this pick, first hear me out.  I LOVE ARMANTI EDWARDS AND WANT HIM TO BE ON OUR TEAM.  My problem, he is a project and a possibility.  He might be a great slot receiver, and I hope he is and proves me wrong.  But, was he really worth trading up for?  Would he not have been available later on?  When we traded up initially I was one happy camper because I thought we were going after Wootten or Griffin.  Well I was wrong, I was shocked!  I fully expected us to pursue Edwards, but is he really worth a 2nd rounder in 2011?  Maybe, my gut says no, but my heart makes me hold out hope that he makes me eat my words.  At least he provides us with another weapon.  He has a lot of learning to do to learn and adjust to WR in the NFL.

Let me hear it peeps, bash me if I'm wrong, support me if I'm right.  I want to know what you have to say!!!
