Update on Panthers Draft

In keeping with the "best player available" theme and using the CBS NFL Draft Rankings, here is my updated mock Panthers draft.................................

Rnd 2 #48 Arrelious Benn WR Illinois NFL body and will go over the middle. Can probably step in day one as #2 WR opposite Smith

Rnd 3 #78 Brandon Lafell WR LSU A pleasant surprise he's still here at this spot. Similar to Benn, but better hands and not quite as fast. Gives Moore two upgraded targets to go with Smith and maybe Jarrett along with a bruising running game. Helps a young QB be successful, like Matt Ryan's rookie year with Falcons.

Rnd 4 #112 Kam Chancellor OLB Va. Tech I see another Thomas Davis type opportunity here. He's athletic enought to play SS in college, but at 6-3 and 231 lbs. he hits a ton, and can beef up and be another pursuit LB with speed to go with Beason and Davis

Rnd 6 #175 Corey Peters DT Kentucky 1st team all-SEC. Athletic, smart and hustles and with coaching can be an NFL DT. Underrated.

RND 6 #202 Myron Rolle SS FSU Athletic Rhodes Scholar who is versatile and mature

Rnd 6 #204 Bill Stull QB Pitt Played in pro system under center for former NFL coach (Wannstadt) so is ahead of many other QB options. Decent arm and smart. Will be a bit of a project but worth a pick here

Rnd 7 #223 Daryl Sharpton LB Miami Another U LB with good smarts and hits a ton. A little undersized, but a football player who can also play on special teams.

Rnd 7 #249 Danny Batten DE South Dakota State Small school player who has done well against big schools and always hustles and has good leadership skills.

So, to summarize it came down to only 3 offensive players (2 WR and 1 QB), and 5 defensive players (DT, DE, ILB, OLB, S). Kinda makes sense as off is pretty set at OL and RB and TE, and Def has holes to fill at DL and LB.

As always, I reserve the right to change my mind as more info comes to light. Welcome your comments.
