Really sad stuff. You really feel for him when you see this, and you truly realize how much the organization meant to him, and how much he meant to the organization. I wish it didn’t end like this, but emotions can’t get in the way of business decisions.
For all of those vindictive fans who were cheering at the top of their lungs when he was released, watch this. And if you still feel the same way and could care less about Jake, than you’re no Panthers fan I want to be associated with.

I would liked to have kept him around
as a mentor/coach/“oh @#$%!” emergency back-up, but this is a one-time opportunity to accellerate the cap hit from the next two years when he’s not going to play anyway.
I will have to print out a roster and hang it next to the TV, so I can know who the players are.

He would not have been happy as a backup. This was probably discussed by all
thereby giving an ultimatum to Fox and Hurney:
If you don’t give me a chance to compete for the job, then cut me loose. They obviously decided that it was time for Moore to take over.
Do or do not. There is no try.
He’s still getting 12 million so I don’t see what the tears are for. I guess knowing that the Panthers were the only team stubborn enough to keep sticking with him and that his QB career is nothing more than a back up role if that now. At the end of the day, it’s a business and should be handled like such, so no he’s classy, great guy comments. His production on the field has declined drastically and when you don’t perform on your job, its cut time.
"It's a bad day to have a bad day" - Coach John Fox of the Carolina Panthers

So just because he was not a good QB means he wasn’t a good guy or classy? Despite what anyone thinks about his skills as a QB, either last year or the last 8, Jake was a great guy and a LEADER! His joy as he played was infectious and I’m going to miss him as a person, but I’m not going to miss all his poor throws
His production on the field has declined drastically and when you don’t perform on your job, its cut time.
While I don’t disagree in general, I also think sports is profession that goes slightly beyond the normal job performance rules. At at typical job you don’t have thousands of fans with emotional ties to that position and thus the “he’s classy, great guy comments” are definitely warranted.
Also, emotions are not tied to money. Jake is a classy person and from what i can tell he really loved the Panthers organization. No matter how much money Jake is getting, he’s sad to leave the Panthers before he’s ready.
You know, it’s funny. A lot of fans complain about players only caring about money. Yet when one like Jake does come along people still say things like “He’s still getting 12 million so I don’t see what the tears are for.”
Disgusts me, it does.

That should be “Yet when a guy who doesn’t care just about money like Jake comes along”

Jake
Greatest Panthers QB of all time. Retire his jersey! Also I would love to bring him in as a coach.
This sig is dedicated to those cut in the 2009 purge.

Greatest QB of a 15 year old franchise isn't saying much
Especially a franchise that only had 1 playoff appearance before you arrived.
Otherwise known as SouthTunnel. Change is inevitable - except from a vending machine.
And now we have four
Including one of the greatest Super Bowls ever.
Jake Delhomme, QB Carolina Panthers, 2003-2009.
120 TDs+16000+ passing yards=Good
89 INT's+27 lost fumbles=Bad
Most comeback wins since 2003=Priceless

That SB win goes in Brady's column
Nobody remembers the losers.

I guess the guy who posted this assumed he retired.
Speaking of this, what do you think he will do/where will he go play?
Do or do not. There is no try.
