Peppers "Was Willing to Stay"
I find this utterly ridiculous. We were off by "6 million"? I mean really how greedy can you get... "NO I do NOT want 84 million, I want 91!" Everyday he keeps saying more and more things that make me glad he is a Bear

The more I hear Pep talk
The more I get pissed at him and the happier I am that he is gone. Make up your mind Pep. 2 years ago you said you didn’t want to come back, then you basically said we held you back when you left us and now you said you would’ve stayed if we offered you more money? Goodbye and good riddance.
Key part of that article:
Because the Panthers had offered to make Peppers the NFL’s highest paid player in 2007 with an offer of just over $12 million a year, he and Carey still wanted that distinction.
And then here’s the kicker:
Providing specifics for the first time regarding his contract negotiations with Carolina last summer, he said the two sides were split by a $6 million difference for a four-year deal – or $1.5 million per year.
“My feeling is they could have done that,” Peppers said. “If they wanted me to stay, it wouldn’t have been that big of a deal.”
I mean come on…it’s only $6M…It’s no big deal. Nice…

Notice they never mentioned previously they...
required the distinction of being the highest paid defender. That might have made him to look greedy or something…but now were supposed to believe he would stayed?

Peppers is a blatant liar, it’s as simple as that. Whether he’s reached that stage where he’s been lying for so long he believes it or not I can’t answer… but everything this guy spouts is a lie.
Peppers found the perfect team for him. The Bears have a much bigger scapegoat in Cutler when things go wrong and he can conveniently blame the other holes they have on defense.

Winning? Championships/ Legacy? Full potential?
All BS!
Benjamins, baby. It’s all about the Benjamins.
Oh...and it turns out he is not the highest paid defender

Circle the Bear game when the schedule comes out.
He’ll be lucky to come out of that one with two knees functional.
Think Peppers will get boo'ed?
Okay…I’ve already decided that I want to win that game no matter what!

Peppers doesn’t scare me.
I can’t wait to see Jordan Gross shut his ass down.

Sounds like he might be...
lined up on the left side across from Otah.

Yeah, god forbid he’s asked to go against the elite tackles in the NFL,

Gross can't do it
Everyone knows the way to shut Pep down is to start your backup against him. So if we play smart, it will be up to Schwartz instead. :)
“It was more than me at Carolina, but I was one of the first people there to be a Pro Bowler,” said Peppers. “Up here, it’s a different situation with the legacy because I’m adding to one that’s already great.”
Peppers said he grew up a Philadelphia fan, which made turning down the Eagles difficult, but that he also liked the Bears in his youth and remembers their famed run to the Super Bowl title in 1985 when he was 5.
One matter of business ahead of him is securing jersey No. 90, which he wore with the Panthers. The number currently belongs to defensive lineman Jarron Gilbert.
“I’m trying to work on that right now,” said Peppers. “Hopefully, he will just give it up out of respect.”
What a complete douchebag.. “Hopefully he will just give it up out of respect”… for what? you being a greedy bastard who turned his back on his home state? Someone who is a yearly underachiever and has never won anything? Gilbert has just as much a right to that # as Peppers… actually he has more. Screw you Julius, can’t believe I ever cheered for you.
Kiss my ass Julius Peppers... what a dumb SOB
Well, I guess we can see that reading and history can be added to the list of things he likes to take off.

He loves to make himself seem more and more of a moron every day, doesn’t he? This list was taken from Panthers.com and clearly shows that before his 1st selection THIRTY Panthers were Pro Bowlers!

Hey, Pep -- you and Urlacher enjoy that legacy while you can.
Both of you will be on IR this year, is there’s any karma in the universe.
And here’s a side bet — your boy Lovie will be out of a job before John Fox.
When I read that crap about #90 and "respect" I almost wrote the very thing you did.
Good riddance. I’ll cheer even harder for the guys who take his place.
Not believing it for a second.
Clearly it was the “rich” part of the “rich football tradition” that Peppers was interested in with the Bears.
Former fan
I’m cutting up his jersey and using it for toilet paper. Now I understand why he doesn’t like to do interviews… what a moron. “(smacks lips) uhhh, I like Woovie Smiff.”
saving face or looking rediculous
Apart from whatever personal issues, Peppers left because he was getting more guaranteed money and a longer deal from Chicago.I think Panthers were giving him a four year deal with less guaranteed money. It is for everyone to see, but he comes up with this ridiculous theory of 6 mil difference was the reason why the deal didn’t go through. And after reading that bit about him being one of the first pro-bowlers in franchise history i think we have an answer as to why he’s media shy and doesn’t talk too much…its coz HE’S DUMB!!!!
this sucks
You guys can hate pep all u want but I’m pissed at the panthers now….6 mill? They couldn’t come off of 6 mill? And why not sign him to a 6 or 7 year contract? So stupid. I’m like heart broken now. Say what u want about him taking plays off he’s the best so whatever. I really wanted him to finish his career here. Richardson really needs the money that bad??? Wtf man just pay him fbs
Richardson you better not screw this up for me!

Which would you rather?
1. A player who wants nothing more than win a Superbowl.
2. A player who wants nothing more than be the highest paid defensive player in the NFL
I know which I want. Peppers isn’t even worth the money the Panthers offered.

True colors, baby.
Showed his true colors. Panther management, teammates and fans don’t need no greedy, lazee, igorant foos.
Wonder how he did on his Wonderlic test.
Reason number 778 why Julius ain't the brightest bulb in the shed
The cost of living in the Chicago metro area is roughly 25.5% higher than in Charlotte, NC.
Over the length of his contract the cost of living like an NFL star will more than eat through those extra $6 million.

Let me get this straight.
So I’m suppose to feel bad for a guy that wanted 6 more million dollars for a contract that is probably worth more than most of us will earn in our lifetimes anyway?
Good grief,I feel myself tearing up already.

Someone's not telling the truth
The way ESPN reported it, the Panthers made three contract offers after the season ended, including a last ditch offer of 14 million per year. I wonder who’s stretching the truth here….
+1
i have been confused by all the different reports as well…

No reason for the Panthers to fabricate.
That leaves…..
Anyone want to bet...
…that the Chicago game just got moved to Monday night?

Thursday night season opener?
Makes sense to me. Large market team like the Bears with a new look roster and a good Peppers storyline

Don't they normally give that to the Super Bowl winner?
I think so – but it would be nice to see Chicago/Carolina for the opener.
Draft Gilyard!
Fair point… I forgot about that.
But hey, while we’re at it I’d love the Panthers to take the first shot at the champs

Heck yeah.
Division game too – where do we sign up?
I wouldn’t mind seeing the Bears game as the first Monday Night game on ESPN. That way, it’s a good matchup and ESPN can slob Pep’s knob all week building up to it.
Draft Gilyard!
Sounds good to me...
We’ll see how Pep takes being the bad guy now in his home state.
