Peppers is just rolling in money
Panthers New Bears DE Julius Peppers plans on rewarding teammate Jarron Gilbert for giving up his No. 90 jersey. Peppers said he planned to offer money to Gilbert for his number, but that the switch was rather amicable. Still, Peppers told the Chicago Tribune that “(Gilbert) told me not to even worry about it, but I’m going to hook him up anyway.” CB Deion Sanders once bought a car for Alundis Brice for his No. 21 when he first joined the Cowboys. From NFL.com
Sorry for bring back up the Peppers subject again. But this is just too funny. He never did this when he was with us. He practically never even interacted with teammates

Let's just leave Peppers alone...
He’s gone…a lot of people hate him….we know….its the same old story….
Do we have to hear about everything Julius says or does now that he is gone, so that we can hate on him?? Can’t we just forget about him and think about our team now??
Essentially..
One can avoid hearing/talking about Peppers by avoiding clicking on links with his name in it.
PS.
Hope you, or anyone else, don’t take that the wrong way, definitely wasn’t trying to be an ***hole (I can see how it could be taken that way now that I’ve already posted it :P). I am also a bit tired of Pep but I know the discussion is far from over for some :).
Nice find pin-striped
Though we could have fun with the poll. How about if we asked “What do you think Peppers offered Gilbert for his number?”
A. Jet ski
B. #45 Jersey – Half the number; 10 times the heart (I stole that)

In this chapter Pep outlines the difficulty of sandbagging it against a rookie while still appearing as if you care.

Clady allowed only a half sack that year
Plenty of other quality pass rushers were shut down against him, it’s not like Peppers was the only one slacking out there, at least by your logic.

'quality pass rushers'
Take a look at the Broncos 2008 schedule and tell me which ‘quality pass rusher’ Clady faced other than Peppers, especially a player of Peppers caliber.
I’ll give you a head start on their 2008 opponents:
- San Diego x2 (no Merriman in 2008)
- Kansas City x2
- Oakland x2
- Cleveland
- New Orleans
- Tampa Bay
- New England
- Jacksonville
- Miami
- Atlanta
- New York Jets
- Carolina
- Buffalo

Those two
And Aaron Schobel from Buffalo was pretty good. I’m just pointing out knocking Clady for being a rookie is unfair, he was a heck of a rookie. Would you knock the defense’s Ryan shredded his rookie year for getting beat by a rookie?

Clady was a hell of a rookie... I'm not knocking him at all
But if you’re Julius Peppers, multi-time probowler, widely regarded as one of the best DE’s in the league- then you have no excuse being shut down completely by a rookie, no matter how good. Pep didn’t even get one QB pressure that game.
As for Matt Ryan: If you find an example where he shredded one of the NFL’s top defenses in 2008, then absolutely I would knock the defense for being dismantled by a rookie QB.

Maybe Ryan wasn't the best example
How about AP his rookie season? Being a rookie sometimes has something to do with it, but if you’re good, you’re good. How do you know Clady wasn’t on the same level as Peppers talentwise, that would explain how he got shut down.

What gets me is
all the taking he’s doing. If he would have opened his mouth and talk to the Panthers fans in the same openness he is doing is Chicago, there’s a good chance things would have turned out differently.
It is not uncommon for some of thes ehigh profile guys to have to pay off someone on a new team for their number
This has happened before… it isn’t a big deal.
+1
It’s a very common practice in the NFL. Eli Manning gave a Rolex and some cash to Jeff Feagles for the No.10
I wont pass up an opportunity to rip on Pep though

Well sure...
it happens a lot. But it would be nice to see a guy like Jarron Gilbert say ‘No’.

It's a number, you have a minimum rookie salary, he's offering to pay you.
Is a statement to another teams fans really worth that?

I'm saying he should say no for Panther fans sake
What if Gilbert has worn #90 since high school? Maybe he is partial to the number just as much as Peppers is. Peppers stated Gilbert should just give it up out of respect. Maybe Gilbert will do that but I don’t think it should be taken for granted.

Anyone else find it strange:
Pep is supposedly all about ‘new beginnings’ and getting a fresh start in Chicago, not to mention demeaning the Panthers when he gets the chance, yet now he’s all nostalgic about the #90.
Pep ware 45 in high school and at UNC, I would think he wouldn’t want to be associated with #90 anymore given all the horrible, mind-scarring midnight jet ski raids he was subjected to in Charlotte.

HAHAHAHA!
“…all the horrible, mind-scarring midnight jet ski raids he was subjected to in Charlotte.”
Funniest thing I’ve read today. Just wait til you hear his new rap song..
“They was posted up outside da crib dawg
Had to move to Chicago fo mo skrilla ya’ll
Panthers didn’t want to pay for the P.E.P
So you know I just had to tell’em B.Y.E
If you want the best D.E. you got to pay me”
Then he gets emo and goes acapella..
“But it wasn’t about the money
They just didn’t appreciate me
They hurt my feelings you see
I cut myself once, I cut myself twice
Then I cut myself three times
You just don’t know, they said
‘Peppers you a bitch for not trying.’
And so I sat on the bench crying.”
I almost said...
Ben Roethlisberger left Pittsburgh and went to Atlanta and tried to get 69
… could cost him a career.
LOL!
As long as the Panthers don't trade for Michael Vick or draft Tim Tebow, my sanity (what's left of it, at least) will remain intact for 2010.

Arizona game with pep
Time to let pep go but the guy on nfl films stated after the season that peppers was not double teamed many games, Arizona in the play off loss did not double him once
