My Good Friend & Chicago Bears Safety, Kevin Payne, Is On the Net - @ChrisHarrisNFL

Kevin-payne-signing-autographs-450_medium

Looks like I might have influenced a buddy of mine to start doing the whole social-media-thing. His name is Kevin Payne, and he's a safety for the Chicago Bears.

Star-divide

Kevin and I have been friends for a long while. We're both University of Louisiana at Monroe alum, and I'm real proud of him for being such a success in the NFL. ULM hasn't had too many guys make it to the NFL, so it's pretty sweet that both of us were able to get the job done.

Kevin was actually a running back during the two seasons we played together at ULM -- and a pretty good running back, at that. He was rookie of the year in our conference and also put together a couple thousand yard rushing seasons. But, when I left for the NFL, a hole opened up at safety, and that's when he jumped in a took my place at the position. And I'll be damned, the man ended up being drafted ahead of me, in the fifth round! Go figure...right? Ha!

I was still with the Bears when he was drafted by them, and, once again, he stepped in and took my place at safety! Now, I'm just hoping he doesn't steal my thunder again here on the Internet! So, even though I'm a little hesitant to do this, I'm gonna go ahead and encourage you guys to introduce yourselves to him and follow what's going on in his world.
