Just when you think Larry Johnson couldn't become any more stupid...
"That'd be awesome," Johnson said. "There hasn't been a real good running back tandem in the league [for a while]."
- Larry Johnson when asked how it would feel to team up with Clinton Portis in Washington

He's right...
Double Trouble isn’t “real good” ….
They’re FREAKING AWESOME!
Seriously though – the guy should pay attention to the goings-on of the league he’s in before making statements like that.
As long as the Panthers don't trade for Michael Vick, sign Derek Anderson, or draft Tim Tebow; my sanity (what's left of it, at least) will remain intact for 2010.
Up the G-MEN!

Maybe he was misquoted...
Maybe he said “there hasn’t been a real good running back tandem [composed of two backs who are washed up] in the league [for a while]”.

You could add LT....
to that gorup and still wouldn’t have half the backfield of at least 5 teams in the league. 3 against 1 and still wouldn’t be top 5 in my book.
Sad, but probably true...

Maybe what he meant was......
That neither of them have been real good lately so together they might could combine for a 100 yard game? Maybe one of them could even stay healty all season?
And if....
LJ and Clinton Portis are the standard there still won’t be a good running back tandem in the league…I can think of at least 5 teams without trying that had better tandems last year than what the two of them would be….Panthers, Titans, Vikings, Chargers, Cowboys, Giants, Bucs, Falcons….ok so that’s more than 5 I guess I got carried away. My point I guess is this with LJ and Portis the Deadskins might would have a top 10 running game if they were lucky. Two washed up backs who used to be good don’t make a good running back tandem.
...
Dolphins, Saints, Jets, Ravens…all had better than Portis + LJ

They might be the fattest running back tandem in the league
Oh wait, I forgot that Lenwhale makes up for Chris Johnson’s weight
It is funny that he has such an inflated perception of himself
That tandem, if brought together, would undoubtedly have the worst yards per carry in the league, as both backs were very close to the bottom individually last season.
What a duma@@
Do or do not. There is no try.

We'll just call them Double-Double
Because their stats will look more like basketball stats than football ones…
10 carries, 10 yards.
