Panthers QB Matt Moore Signs His Tender
"It's a done deal," said agent Lynn Lashbrook. "He's excited about getting started for next season. He did not want to wait around.
"He wanted to send a message to the community and the team. I just think it's a great win-win for both parties."
Woot Woot! Let's get this party started!

I guess this isn't a suprise
I know the jury is still out (at least for a lot of folks) on Moore being the starter next year, but at least we know who it will be now.
Alright Moore. Now get to work!
There’s a lot to learn.

Exciting times
With the release of so many players (and some fan favs) the emotional toll has been high. However, with this signing I’m official getting excited for next year. There’s no doubt that turning to Moore is a risk but I’m really excited that at least we will get to see something new.
The key characteristic I go back to when thinking about Moore is...
that he well he protects the ball…even when he was at OSU he was good at protecting the ball. Low amount of turnovers which will be huge for this team in 2010.

+1
As long as the Panthers don't trade for Michael Vick, sign Derek Anderson, or draft Tim Tebow; my sanity (what's left of it, at least) will remain intact for 2010.
Especially with our ability on defense to create turnovers.
Jake Delhomme, QB Carolina Panthers, 2003-2009.
120 TDs+16000+ passing yards=Good
89 INT's+27 lost fumbles=Bad
Most comeback wins since 2003=Priceless

This is great!
Finally, some news that doesn’t involve a fan favorite being released.
I’m glad Moore signed the tender. I think we are going to witness great things at the QB position this season.

I'm impressed that Moore flew all the way from California to Charlotte to sign his tender.
It shows a level of dedication that is the perfect way to get his starting career off on the right foot.
If all goes well I bet we see a mid season extension.

I think I remember some talk about Moore being a slow learner
Not always a hard worker, or not picking up all the plays… which might have lead to him getting bumped on the depth chart. Remember anything like that? Might have just been a rumor.

Are you referring to me?
I said when we were all speculating why he was buried on the depth chart that maybe he was struggling to pick up the offense or the plays, because I couldn’t understand why he’d be 3rd on the chart.
I don’t recall ever saying he wasn’t a hard worker.

No, I'm not saying you said that
I heard something like that on the radio or other places

I hope everything goes so well that they extend him...
That would be awesome.

Hey, the guy added a zero to his paycheck...
I’d fly to Cali for the same!

Still hard to believe
I figured Jake and Fox were tied to the same fate. Never thought Matt would be the starter under the Fox regime.
Do or do not. There is no try.
Great move by Moore to take on a leadership role during a tough stretch for the Team and Fans....
“He’s excited about getting started for next season. He did not want to wait around.”
“He wanted to send a message to the community and the team.”
Note to Matt M.: The community has recieved the message loud & clear! Lets get it done in 2010 brother!!

Good leadership step to take.
He’ll be fine.
The best thing...
no more Delhomme and Moore qb controversy over who should be starting and gives the Panthers the best chance to win. Finally. Now everyone can argue about draft needs, free agency, and trades.
I tried being reasonable, I didn't like it.
In other QB news
Per Gantt- Jake Delhomme is visiting the Saints after leaving Cleveland…. ouch

I'd have to believe that's a courtesy trip.
I don’t foresee Jake signing on as a back-up unless there’s 0 teams interested in letting him fight for starting position.. But, who knows, has been a wild off season.
Heading to Dallas after that too.

Wow
Then to Denver and Green Bay.
My guess is Jake’s warming to the idea of another pay day as a backup.

the saints
Jake said he wants to compete for a starting position. The Browns may offer him that, and we’ll see if he can beat Quinn or Wallace. He also said that if he is gonna be a bench warmer, he’d rather do it in New Orleans than Cleveland.

I just made the perfect Swaggerty’s sausage-dog before logging on to see the wonderful news. A great sausage-dog to represent the beginning of a great year. Hopefully the hard, emotional stuff is behind us. Now we can focus on signings, the draft, and so on to prepare for next year, as someone else mentioned above. All that’s left to do now is have a beer.
I toast your sausage dog

Ahaha
We just need everyone on CSR to raise their food in toast to a new decade, a prosperous one full of trophies, rings, and broken records! That’s what you call a great community!
I raise my glass of southern sweet tea!
And in a couple hours when I eat lunch, I’ll raise that too!

T.O.
Would you take T.O. for minimum wage with little to no gauranteed money? He’s a solid blocker, can still make plays, and NOBODY else seems interested at all. I think we don’t need him, but he’s better than a lot of other options, and he could help Moore in the passing game. I hope we trade up to get a solid receiver, and maybe T.O. could mentor the guy. He would know right away that he’s coming in as the #2 guy, just like Jake in NO or GB.
N.O.
The reason I say this is Matt Moore. Owens is willing and open about blaming a QB and throwing them under the bus when he doesn’t get catches. That’s not the kind of attitude I want surrounding Matt Moore in his first year as a starter.
Moose is only a year older than Owens and is a better blocker overall. I would have rather the team retained Moose than go after T.O. I can’t deny Owens’ abilities on the field, but it’s his locker room presence that’s a cancer.

Sometimes principal and character are more important than being a play maker
Plus Smitty might wind up punching another teammate.
