Scouts.com Top 100 Prospects for the 2010 Draft

Below is a list of the top 100 draft eligible prospects.  Ideally, with our picks being where they are, we should be able to add 3 of these guys.  Maybe start with 40 and work down to 100, and find three guys you'd like to see in a Panther uniform next season.  Have fun rosterbating, but take it easy...

(excuse the formatting jargon...this is copied and pasted directly from ESPN [shhhhh])

Tebow at 100?

That’s generous.

Sorry, couldn’t resist.

by Scrantsj on Mar 11, 2010 1:29 PM EST up reply actions

They had to put him on there somewhere...

Otherwise no one would read the list if it didn’t include the almighty Timmy Tebow.

As long as the Panthers don't trade for Michael Vick, sign Derek Anderson, or draft Tim Tebow; my sanity (what's left of it, at least) will remain intact for 2010.

I've been saying Arrelious Benn was going to be good for a long time now

Best blocking WR in the draft, and rated #2 according to this list.

He looks like a late first round guy...the size is helping him, too

Funny to see Tate at 49th as the 5th rated guy.

Double oops, broke my own rule from comment #1, but according to this list, Tate could quite possibly be available when we pick 47th.

Did I miss the memo on Gerald McCoy?

I know the kid is going to be great, no doubt… but better than Suh?

I truly see Suh as a once in a decade type player.

There are injury concerns with Suh

He’s had 2 knee surgeries (not sure of severity) in college. That is the only knock on him, so far.

by Scrantsj on Mar 11, 2010 4:19 PM EST up reply actions

If a team chooses McCoy over Suh based solely on knee surgery he had back in 2005 they’re stupid in my opunion.

I’d understand it if it happened just this last year, but 5 years ago considering he’s improved every single year- doesn’t seem like much of an issue to me.

Glenn Dorsey had the same issues.

Jake Delhomme, QB Carolina Panthers, 2003-2009.

McCoy was more consistent

Suh is still riding the wave from that last game against Texas

All of this rain and rosterbation makes me sleepy.

It’s intriguing to think some of those players could be available to us.

My favorite OLB didn’t make the list. I suppose that’s a good thing. I really should let the idea go being he’s not really projected to fit in our scheme.

by D-Ranged1 on Mar 11, 2010 4:47 PM EST reply actions

From that list...

I’ll take Golden Tate and Corey Wooten…our 4th round pick is #109.

Corey Wooten, DE, Northwestern, ranked 79

Peppers like size. Very stout against the run, and flashes some pass rush ability. Do you like him in the 3rd round? Wooten?…anyone…anyone?

Do or do not. There is no try.

by ERL on Mar 11, 2010 6:45 PM EST reply actions

Personally

I think some 3-4 team will snatch him up to play DE. I’m not his biggest fan. If we want a large DE, someone in the middle rounds like Greg Middleton is my personal favorite. He had 16.5 sacks as a sophomore, his production has tailed off, but we know what is there. Well worth a fourth or fifth round selection. I also like Jermaine Cunningham, he’s a high motor guy similar to Charles Johnson, though a little on the light side. Daniel Teo-Neishem would also be a good pick, he has good size, effort, and production. I’m not a fan of a high DE pick, we can suffice with a mid round guy.

Jake Delhomme, QB Carolina Panthers, 2003-2009.

120 TDs+16000+ passing yards=Good

89 INT's+27 lost fumbles=Bad

I like Teo-Neishem because he has a cool name.

If we got Teo and Akwasi in the same draft, that’d be awesome. I think there’s another one but I can’t seem to think of the name.

by D-Ranged1 on Mar 12, 2010 2:59 AM EST up reply actions

PS...

As far as awesome names go, Ndamukong is #1 on my last. I’ll just refer to him as King Kong from now on.

by D-Ranged1 on Mar 12, 2010 3:00 AM EST up reply actions

LOL!

I like that. Teo is such a cool name too.

Jake Delhomme, QB Carolina Panthers, 2003-2009.

Not that he fits into the run-stopper mold

But I really like Jerry Hughes outta TCU. He has far and away been the most productive pass rusher statistically over the last 3 college seasons. He would be a situational guy, at first anyway, but if C Johnson is going to rush from a tackle spot on passing downs, we’ll need an end that can rush. He would be my first choice, and if he is available with our 3rd rounder, good gracious.

Do or do not. There is no try.

by ERL on Mar 12, 2010 8:56 AM EST up reply actions

Yes.

I’ve seen him play – if he’s available in the 3rd round we should seriously consider taking him.

The biggest downer on Tate, imo, is his average burst.

I thought that b/c he is a shorter guy he would be more explosive in that area. He does have great strengths and production.

I would prefer a DE in the 2nd and a WR like Ford in the 3rd (I agree with Clobberin’ Chris Harris that DE is a big need and I view DE #1 and WR #2). However, I do not forsee the value being there at 47 for a DE b/c if anything it is a premium position. Who knows, maybe we trade back and get more picks?
