We...are...New Orleans. As I sit here and watch the Saints celebrate on the field, I realize there is nothing anyone can say to truly describe this moment.

Congrats to the Saints

The players definitely deserve their ring.

Did anyone else feel that the Superbowl was just ‘blah’ (for lack of a better term). I just don’t really feel like it was a very good or exciting Superbowl to watch.

Of course maybe we’ve become too accustomed to amazing SB finishes in recent memory (Santonio Holmes catch, David Tyree’s acrobatics etc)

It certainly wasn't the offensive extravaganza it was built up to be

But I did correctly call a Saints win

You sure did

I honestly didn’t see it coming, but that onside kick to start the 2nd half seemed to break the Colts’ spirit.

I had the grand prize on a ball board won until...

the Porter pick 6. If it would have stayed 24-17 that was $400 in my pocket. I was yelling “Tackle him Peyton you sorry rascal!” The INT is exactly what I wanted but needed him to NOT SCORE!

I was pretty surprised at all the little things that were going wrong for the colts like all the dropped passes that were almost perfectly thrown.. The missed field goal was when I knew that it just wasn’t gonna happen for them. The saints weren’t outstanding but it just seemed like they were playing for more than the colts were.

Yeah!

It did seem a little blah!

Favorite Ad?

What was everyone’s favorite Superbowl ad?

Mine was a tie between the beavers playing violins for career builder and Betty White playing backyard football for Snickers.

I’ll say this much. It wasn’t any one of these.

I like the one with the little black kid that slaps the dude and says ’don’t touch my mamma, and dont touch my doritoes!’

by EyeSack on Feb 8, 2010 11:44 AM EST up reply actions

Definately the chickens for the Denny's commercials

The only thing that would have made it better, a suggestion from my friend, was if the President could have been a black chicken instead of a white one XD

I also liked the one with the Doritos battle armor.

It seemd blah...

Because the Panthers weren’t in it!

Congrats to the Saints… but next year you better watch out!

by Tater596 on Feb 8, 2010 11:46 AM EST reply actions

this superbowl was definitely not as interesting

a lack of a strong running game for either team made it lackluster

and none of the commercials were incredibly impressive…

by vitzeng on Feb 8, 2010 2:47 PM EST reply actions

halftime was less than spectacular too… I like the Who don’t get me wrong but damn they’re old. and montages are lame

by EyeSack on Feb 8, 2010 2:53 PM EST reply actions

Really?

I loved the halftime show.

by RV21 on Feb 8, 2010 3:03 PM EST up reply actions

being a fan of their old awesomeness, it’s just hard to watch them try to rock like they used to. I feel like montaging is just taste testing your music and falls flat. Even they weren’t happy with their performance.

I enjoyed it too

It was good to see them back together…regardless of age.

I liked the halftime show more than I thought

But I think it’s time for the NFL to let go of the aging rocker motif for at least a few years. I know they’re afraid of having another Janet Jackson incident…. but now we’ve seen Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and The Who for 3 years I think it’s time to go a little younger.

Prince was amazing several years back and I personally would love to see them change it up. There are several bands I absolutely love, but no one I can think is big enough to take the reigns at this time.

LOL

I was thinking more along the lines of ‘The Foo Fighters’ or ‘Dave Matthew’s Band’…. but hey, I’m up for anything

I like the Foo Fighters

That would be a good choice, Nickelback too, they might have to clean up their lyrics a little bit, but they would be a nice act to watch.

haha oh god, reminds me of middle school all over again. I don’t even know if they’re still together.. I don’t know if you remember 96 WAVE Jaxon but they used to apologize for ever playing limp bizkit.

I can’t believe I thought they were enjoyable back in high school. Ugh.

by SlayerGhaleon on Feb 8, 2010 5:42 PM EST up reply actions

I loved Tom Petty. I have to admit though, my buddy Trevor almost fell asleep during the halftime show.

Here’s my idea. We need to get a hardcore Power Metal band back in there, from back in the days where Screamos were raped by true men. I suggest Dragonforce. From their songs to the titles of their albums, they’re a pretty cool band hailing from England. Just listen to the name of their albums.

“Valley of the Damned”

“Sonic Firestorm”

“Inhuman Rampage”

Here’s the program I would use.

Song 1: Through the Fire and Flames

Song 2: Fields of Despair

And just when they’re getting used to the hardcore rock, BAM! Change it up a bit with a more emotional song!

Song 3: Starfire

That’s all they really have to do. The Super Bowl will be over by then due to riots. People will flood into the streets and overturn cars, burn bridges, and overthrow their government. It’ll be madness, but in the end America will be better off! ^^

+1 on the "blah" factor of the game and on bringing in some young blood for the halftime show.

I’m not trying to take anything away from the Saints performance, IMO they were outstanding from top to bottom, but the game never grabbed me.
As far as Halftime shows; I’m certainly not a Prince fan, but I have to admit he put on a scorching halftime show. I’m not a Springsteen fan either but I thought he did a nice job incorporating a “Super Bowl” theme into his set. The best Super Bowl Halftime show I’ve seen was U2 about 8-9 years ago.

by paydirt16 on Feb 8, 2010 6:30 PM EST up reply actions

In their day, The Who was a great rock 'n roll group if ever there was one.

In 1966, when I was 15, I went to a Who concert. It was just prior to when they released “Magic Bus” and they weren’t extremely well known in the States yet. Only about 200 people showed up at a 3000 seat auditorium. Rather than just go through the paces, The Who gave one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen.

Before his early death, Keith Moon may have been the best drummer in rock ‘n roll. At the end of the concert, Moon kicked over his drums and Pete Townsend destroyed his guitar and shoved it through his amp. That was their trademark at the time. You never were left guessing if The Who was going to play an encore or not because when they finished their set there weren’t any instruments left.

As artists, that concert always made me have the highest regard for them. It’s too bad most of you are too young to have seen them in their prime. But I agree, it’s time to end the aging rocker theme at the Super Bowl.

When I watched them last night, it just reminded me of how old I’m getting. I much prefer my memory of 1966.

by Drew-Dat on Feb 8, 2010 10:51 PM EST up reply actions

That’s an awesome memory, I wish I had similar. But no, like I said, I was blessed with limp bizkit and korn at 15. What I wouldn’t do to be able to go see bands like The who live in their prime.

by EyeSack on Feb 8, 2010 11:51 PM EST up reply actions

Keith Moon was amazing… but I’m still rather partial to John Bonham. For that era, anyway.

Now I’m convinced Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater is the most amazing drummer I have ever heard.

Won't argue with you about Bonham. He also "may" have been the best of that era.

I’d tell you about my first Led Zeppelin concert, but unfortunately my memory of that evening is a little hazy.

it wasn't blah

i felt the superbowl was incredible. the saints were amazing. the most amazing “play” i have ever seen in superbowl history happened this sunday. peyton manning, considered by some to be the greatest qb ever, played, what, 4 plays in the second quarter, and had to wait for the saints first drive of the 3rd quarter to finish before he got another crack. so in real time, peyton manning and the offense played all of about 5 minutes over about a two hour span, including halftime. you wanna talk about dropped passes and miscues? one thing guys like garcon, collie, hart, addai and others were not prepared for was having to sit and watch for almost two hours without actually getting to do anything. i thought it was brilliant and really illustrated the mastery of the game by sean payton and drew brees. i mean, if i was the competing qb against manning, with all of my lack of skills, the only way i have a chance is by keeping him from playing at all. more than a third of the colts overall time of possession came in the first quarter. the gameplan by the saints was the most brilliant aspect of the game. i thought it was a great superbowl. it wasn’t nearly as excited as SB 38, but it was good.

by usana_gaines on Feb 8, 2010 6:09 PM EST reply actions

+1 on the Saints game plan

The Saints coaching staff had a great game plan and made some great gametime decisions and the Saints players certainly held up their end of the bargain. I thought Payton thoroughly outcoached Caldwell.

by paydirt16 on Feb 8, 2010 6:34 PM EST up reply actions

The buildup for the two offensive teams

made it not as exciting. There weren’t a lot of big plays, it was just dink and dunk. That’s partially why it was a little boring, it was exciting, and I enjoyed it, but it did get a little monotonous.

The early bird catches the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

by Flowing Willow on Feb 9, 2010 2:38 AM EST up reply actions

I enjoyed the game as well

It wasn’t sloppy though it lacked big plays (until the pick 6). Both defenses were playing deep and allowing the underneath stuff so it was to be expected. I really Manning was about to come down and tie it and give the Saints one last try at it.
