Super Bowl XLIV Open Thread

In my life time yet again the Panthers will return and WIN the Super Bowl, I just know it. But its not in 2010 we do know this. So let's make the best of it, hope its a good game and maybe the commercials will give us a laugh or two.

This is now an Open Thread!

Man, I didn’t even consider this coming in, but I think the equalizer in this game so far has been the Colts rookie head coach being outcoached. Great job by the Saints keeping Manning off the field. Lets see if they can keep it going.

Oh. My. God. Saints played with heart and they won it. Good game, they deserved it.

I just look forward to beating the super bowl champs twice next season ;)

Kudos to the Saints....

Great execution and mistake free football. What a great game plan and game calling by the Saints coaching staff. Classic example of coaches putting their players in the best possible position to succeed,,,and then the players holding their end of the bargain and getting the job done. They earned it. I hope they enjoy it.
It will be sweet knocking off the Super Bowl Champs twice next year.

The divisional NFC Championship & the Super Bowl really piss me off.

The Vikings, we spanked them.

The Saints, we beat dem once this season. Should have beaten them twice!! If not for Jake Delhomme’s horrible play, the Panthers would have won the Super Bowl this season!

No. That is misplaced blame. If Jon Fox had had just done his job, benched Delhomme and started Matt Moore in Week 3 instead of week 8 — the Panthers are the Super Bowl Champs in 2010!!!

Pep might be out, hell so might be Fox. So might be the NFL in not too long.

This was such a wasted season. We should have been the champs.

You didnt beat the Saints in the last game

You barely squeaked by our backups in a meaningless game so how does that relate to you winning the super bowl hahaha

by mississippisaintsfan on Feb 8, 2010 1:50 PM EST up reply actions

The Panthers were the better team this year...

…when Matt Moore was the QB. The Saints barely “squeaked” by the Panthers in week 5(?) with Jake Delhomme sucking & blowing it for Carolina.

Enjoy the SB victory. The Saints put it all together at the right time, and congratulations are in order to the entire Saints organization. But if Jon Fox had benched Delhomme in favor of Moore a few weeks earlier, then the Panthers would be the ones celebrating right now.

Best thing that could happen for the Panthers is that the Saints won

They’ll be overrated come next season, and over-confident to boot. They don’t have the look of a dynasty to me, but a one-year wonder.

And of course, the corollary to that is that the Panthers will get their usual dose of disrespect and minimal publicity — just how they operate best.

Whodat?

Well, the Saints won the game. All it took was one turnover by Peyton Manning to seal the deal for the Saints.

To be honest, this could be a great thing for us. Now the Saints will get all of their players poached at during the off-season and they’ll turn back into the Aints in 2010.

Did it take a turnover by Lord Manning or a takeaway by the Saints?

by jeremy_smith on Feb 8, 2010 11:36 PM EST up reply actions

Definately a combination of both!

Manning attempted a OMGWTF pass, and it turned into a HAHABBQ interception.

One of the great things about being a fan of both the NFL & Nascar.....

is you never have to suffer from sports withdrawal.

Did the better defense make the plays tonight?

The Saints went 8-8 last season. In 2011 its our year!

The Saints held the mighty Peyton to 17 points

7 in the entire second half. That’s pretty good.
