Special Teams can only get better!

According to the "highly regarded" annual review of Special Teams by Rich Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News, the Panthers were ranked #32 of 32 NFL teams in 2009. Now of course some of you will remember that we had a back and forth on just how significant Gosselin's ratings were in previous years, when he ranked them higher on a cumulative basis, due solely to kicking prowess. I had maintained that that obscured just how bad Danny Crossman's units were, where it counted, in tackling and blocking and running with kicked balls in one's hands. Well, this just about nails the incompetence down, doesn't it? Good luck to new ST Coordinator Jeff Rodgers in turning things around in 2010!
