First off, no. This isn't a fanpost about Luck, Clausen etc. A topic that has been on my mind is Gross's replacement. I know this sounds kind of dumb, but think, would you rather have an aging Gross protecting our qb's blindside, or a young prospect. IMHO, Gross has one more year of good play left in him. The guy is on the wrong side of 30. 2012's first rounder should be spent on the best LT available. I don't know who that is as of now, but Matt Kalil from USC(Southern Cal) is rated as a first round prospect for next years draft, and yes, he is Ryan Kalil's little bro. The guy is alittle undersized at around 295, but he has very quick feet, and good technique. Kalil can be a franchise LT. Carolina has to protect Luck/Pickles/insert name here someway right? By the time the 2012 draft comes around, Gross IMO will be an old, overpaid LT.
Look at Detroit's Stafford. First overall pick with a lot of promise, but injuries have derailed his career. Detroit made the mistake of protecting their investment with 30+ year old blindside protector. Carolina should learn from this and draft Kalil, or a better LT if available to protect their own investment in Luck.
