Welcome to the Sunday Morning Bloody Mary Panthers prediction post! Normally we discuss whether the Panthers will cover the assigned points they have been given. Today we find ourselves in the amazing position of favorites. That's right, the Panthers are favored against the 4-9 Cardinals. The Panthers are at home so that might explain the points in what might other wise be a 'pick em'.
So as you ponder whether the Panthers can somehow win a second game in 2010 consider this:
- The Cardinals have one of the worst rushing defenses (#30). The Panthers seem to have finally got their running game going. If the Panthers can run the football 30+ times they should win time of possession and get red zone opportunities
- The Cardinals will also be starting a rookie QB. The Cardinals are worst team in the NFL at passing, besides the Panthers. The chances are that Skelton does perform any better than Jimmy Clausen. Clausen in turn has a good chance of out producing the opposing QB for the first time in a while (Hasselbeck doesn't count).
- The Panthers are Due. I felt the real need to have a 3rd bullet but couldn't find a stat that fit. But I think what could decide this game is the intangible, the built up frustration in a team that is ready to put it together well enough to beat another under achieving team
So I'm thinking the line is about right on this one:
Panthers 24 Cardinals 21
Mike Goodson 80 combined yards and a TD
Jonathan Stewart 120 rushing yards and 2 TDs
Let's hear your predictions Panther fans!
