I feel like for the last few weeks I've gone a touch too obscure again, so I thought this week I'd pick a brew that represented the season as the Atlanta Falcons leave the comfort of their dome and travel to Carolina for what looks to be a very chilly game with temps being in the high-30s in Charlotte and an early prediction of rain.
Along with the clouds above the outcome could possibly rain on someone's parade also, as a Carolina Panthers victory would both put a hit on Atlanta's ability to retain home field advantage, while also putting the Panthers out of the #1 draft spot.
So, let's take a look at this week's brew... after the jump
Samuel Adam's Winter Lager
The Brewery: The Boston Beer Company was started in founder Jim Koch's kitchen in 1984 (much like most brewers get started). He was looking to reignite his family's legacy from the 1800's a long line of brew masters and had a dream of creating great beer on a small scale. Eventually, his business began to grow and now 'Sam Adams' is synonymous with great beer.
The Brew: This is first and foremost a lager, a cold brewed beer that is arguably the most popular style in the US. Samuel Adams add spices synonymous with the season as you'll taste some cloves, cinnamon and even a little ginger. This results in a bold, thick brew that is fantastic in cold weather.
How it relates to the game? It's going to be a cold day in Charlotte, and I recommend that tailgaters pick up a sixer of this and do their best to keep warm.
Where to buy? Almost all grocery stores stock Sam Adams.
Price Point: $5-$7 per 6-pack
