Identity Crisis:  2011

Amidst all the talk of the Panthers coaching issues, I realized something that I hadn't thought of before now. All that I really know of the Panthers I know of during the John Fox era. I was a fan during their 1996 run to the NFC Championship game, but to be honest... I was 11 at the time and really didn't know much of anything about the game, the or players.

It wasn't until just before John Fox came around that I really started understanding the game. So for me, John Fox is really all that I have known of the Panthers in a sense (known... and understood that is). When John Fox leaves, I realized he takes the identity of the Panthers that he instilled with him. The so-called old school, smash mouth, playing physical, run the football down there throats, we're going to do what we do and dare you to stop us type of thinking... That's all John Fox.

So my question then becomes... What identity will the next Panther's head coach instill in this team? What identity would you prefer?
