Am I the only one whose excited by the prospect of Grimm as our new HC?

Oh yes, my rampant homerism is back baby! Despite having to deal with shit from those damn Cleveburg fans this weekend (who would've thought the local irish bar near my apartment would be a Panthers AND Browns joint? Now I've seen everything), I feel like I've received some great news today: the Panthers are actively interested in bringing in Russ Grimm for HC. More after the jump

As anyone whose spent anytime in the DC area, Russ Grimm is generally regarded as something of a demigod in the area (next to Mark Madden and the rest of the "Hogs" that all have sportstalk shows now). He's become the embodiment of the "lunch pail and blue collar" personality, routinely being cited as what it means to be a genuine man above all else. Of course, judging our next HC candidate solely on personality wouldn't be the greatest barometer (Dave Mcginnis was always highly regarded as a person, but he was a fairly shitty HC in arizona). But looking back on Grimm's coaching career, he's been able to bring a great deal of success to all the Offensive lines (that being his main responsibility with the Skins, Steelers, and right now the Cardinals), including but not limited to helping Pittsburgh develop their monstrously successful Oline that would eventually win Cowher's only SB (and allow Willie "Fastest Heel" Parker to post two NFL topping seasons in a row); His tutelage was also invaluable out in Arizona, where such concepts as "pass protection" and "running game" were as alien as the Roswell remains up until Himself (along with Whisenhunt) showed up and promptly made them one of the best pass blocking lines in the league (and post record highs for rushing as a team...say what you will about their pass first mentality, that's still 40 years worth of stats that they bested). This year has been a disaster for Arizona, but much like it is here it's a multitude of issues that have plagued the cardinals out west (also, while they may have more wins, Carolina possesses a far more talented core of players than Arizona does). Pop quiz: outside of Derek Anderson and Larry Fitzgerald, name 5 starters on the Cardinals roster......

And it's not like he's been shunned from HC positions in the past because of qualification reasons. If anybody can remember the whole Tomlin/"rooney rule" controversy back in 2007, the Steelers were thisclose to promoting Grimm to take over as HC before they ultimately went with Tomlin (I'm not going to bring up the whole "conspiracy" aspect of the hire; but I do think if the rule wasn't in place they wouldn't thought twice about hiring Grimm and he'd be the HC of pittsburgh as we speak). He's got two decades worth of coaching and playing experience underneath his belt, and it seems like if ever there was a better situation for him to prove his chops as a HC it would be with our Carolina Panthers. I for one am endorsing him for HC; I wanna see this team get that "fire" back in their bellies that we've been lacking this year due to lack of leadership (and uncertainty). Say what you will about Fox, but he's kept the locker room together through the bad and good, and it seems like Grimm would be able to do the same if things ever got bad as they are now (god forbid). I'd love to hear the thoughts on it all...and yes, I know this topic is being beaten like a cleveland hooker, but with so much discussion surrounding Harbaugh (not totally opposed to him; he definitely has done wonders with that stanford program and was always a childhood favorite as QB for the colts lol) there's been so little room to wonder about our other options. Also, who wants to bet Grimm would love to keep guys like Skip and Meeks around? I'm willing to bet they are his kind of coaches.....
