It was a bit of a tough call this week because I was quite happy to see rookie WR Brandon LaFell have another good game. LaFell logged 4 catches for 40 yards and most importantly his first NFL TD. But given the offense only put up 10 points in a loss I have to swing to the other side of the ball and congratulate a defense that kept us in the game until the late turnovers killed any chance.
LB James Anderson continues to have a remarkable season. He logged 8 tackles, 1 sack, 3 TFL and 2 QHs. That ranks him 8th in the league in tackles with 68 through seven (7) games. On the season he also has 2.5 sacks, 6 PDs, 1 INT, 1 FF. The guy is simply all over the field. We shouldn't be surprised, Anderson played well last preseason and was deserving of more playing and he has made the most of it.
Though we can question some of the veterans purged over the offseason we can't argue with the need to get Anderson on the field. Let's hope a poor Panther season doesn't thwart his consideration for a Pro Bowl selection because he is deserving.
Congratulations to LB James Anderson, the Panthers Game Ball of the Week Winner!
