The Vicks Injury Report shows the Panthers will be without the services of five starters on offense. Proof positive that no matter how bad things get they can always get worse.
Here's a look at the Panthers week 11 injury report:
Name | Position | Injury | Wed. | Thu. | Fri. | Game Status |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Beason, Jon | LB | Knee | DNP | LP | FP | probable |
Clausen, Jimmy | QB | Concussion | DNP | DNP | DNP | Out |
Hardy, Greg | DE | Concussion | LP | LP | FP | probable |
Harris, Nic | LB | Knee | LP | LP | FP | probable |
Hudson, Marcus | S | Ankle | DNP | DNP | DNP | Out |
Johnson, Charles | DE | Hip | LP | DNP | FP | probable |
LaFell, Brandon | WR | Concussion | DNP | DNP | DNP | Out |
Stewart, Jonathan | RB | Concussion | DNP | DNP | DNP | Out |
Sutton, Tyrell | RB | Ankle | DNP | DNP | DNP | Out |
Wharton, Travelle | G | Toe | DNP | DNP | DNP | Out |
I'm surprised RB Jonathan Stewart is not good to go. I never saw where the severity of his concussion was reported so why would he need more than a week to recover? It must have been a bad one, if I were to give him the benefit of the doubt. Yet Stewart seems to miss a lot of time due to injury, more so practice than games but I digress...Stewarts status means we can expect to see Mike Goodson again carry the load at RB this week.
more after the jump...
The biggest loss for the game will be LG Travelle Wharton. Arguably our best o-linemen this season Wharton will most likely be replaced by previously benched MacKenzie Bernadeau.
With WR Brandon LaFell out I can't help but wonder which WR might benefit from it in playing time. Will free agent pick -up Devin Thomas finally get a Panthers jersey. Will Armanti Edwards finally get a chance to redeem himself? Or they hope that somehow David Clowney finally makes a play?
The Panthers kick coverage will be without arguably its best cover guy in Marcus Hudson. Let's see if Captain Munnerlyn gets the call.
Powering through the pain this week is:
DE Charles Johnson - looking to match Peppers 3 sacks this week
LB Jon Beason - no surprise here
LB Nic Harris - this guy is making the most of his opportubity
DE Greg Hardy - glad to have thi sguy back
Just for kicks here's an updated Panthers IR list:

LB Thomas Davis is actually still listed on the PUP list; I'm not sure of that's correct or not but it doesn't really matter. That's five starters for those keeping count.
