Panthers Week 11 Injury Report Update

The Vicks Injury Report shows the Panthers will be without the services of five starters on offense. Proof positive that no matter how bad things get they can always get worse.

Here's a look at the Panthers week 11 injury report:

Name Position Injury Wed. Thu. Fri. Game Status
Beason, Jon LB Knee DNP LP FP probable
Clausen, Jimmy QB Concussion DNP DNP DNP Out
Hardy, Greg DE Concussion LP LP FP probable
Harris, Nic LB Knee LP LP FP probable
Hudson, Marcus S Ankle DNP DNP DNP Out
Johnson, Charles DE Hip LP DNP FP probable
LaFell, Brandon WR Concussion DNP DNP DNP Out
Stewart, Jonathan RB Concussion DNP DNP DNP Out
Sutton, Tyrell RB Ankle DNP DNP DNP Out
Wharton, Travelle G Toe DNP DNP DNP Out

I'm surprised RB Jonathan Stewart is not good to go. I never saw where the severity of his concussion was reported so why would he need more than a week to recover? It must have been a bad one, if I were to give him the benefit of the doubt. Yet Stewart seems to miss a lot of time due to injury, more so practice than games but I digress...Stewarts status means we can expect to see Mike Goodson again carry the load at RB this week.

more after the jump...

Star-divide

The biggest loss for the game will be LG Travelle Wharton. Arguably our best o-linemen this season Wharton will most likely be replaced by previously benched MacKenzie Bernadeau.

With WR Brandon LaFell out I can't help but wonder which WR might benefit from it in playing time. Will free agent pick -up Devin Thomas finally get a Panthers jersey. Will Armanti Edwards finally get a chance to redeem himself? Or they hope that somehow David Clowney finally makes a play?

The Panthers kick coverage will be without arguably its best cover guy in Marcus Hudson. Let's see if Captain Munnerlyn gets the call.

Powering through the pain this week is:

DE Charles Johnson - looking to match Peppers 3 sacks this week

LB Jon Beason - no surprise here

LB Nic Harris - this guy is making the most of his opportubity

DE Greg Hardy - glad to have thi sguy back

Just for kicks here's an updated Panthers IR list:

# Name Pos. Ht. Wt. Age Exp. College
55 Connor, Dan LB 6-2 231 25 3 Penn State
83 Martin, Charly WR 6-1 212 26 2 West Texas A&M
3 Moore, Matt QB 6-3 202 26 4 Oregon State
79 Otah, Jeff T 6-6 330 24 3 Pittsburgh
72 Robinson, Duke G 6-5 330 24 2 Oklahoma
97 Taylor, Hilee DE 6-2 250 24 3 North Carolina
34 Williams, DeAngelo RB 5-9 217 27 5 Memphis
53 Williams, Jamar LB 6-0 237 26 5 Arizona State
15 Wright, Wallace WR 6-1 197 26 4 North Carolina
58
Davis, Thomas LB
6-0 240 27 6 Georgia

LB Thomas Davis is actually still listed on the PUP list; I'm not sure of that's correct or not but it doesn't really matter. That's five starters for those keeping count.

The line was up to 13 last I looked...

I bet the Ravens cover that…it should be more like 20 points

Not that I scour the injury reports...

But man, I don’t remember a time where 4 players were out with a concussion. And we aren’t the only team suffering from that.

Do the new helmets suck? Or are people falling on their heads? It’s a modern-era NFL plague. Injuries keep multiplying every year it seems. And concussions have been on a big time rise.

Are our helmets cheap knock-offs from China?

It makes you wonder...

but I don’t think its the equipment. I think its just that athletes are getting stronger, faster and bigger and we are pushing the limits of what the body can absorb.

I think it is also that big hits are glorified over textbook tackles.

The increasing showmanship of the sport

leads to all these players trying to make highlight tackles and big hits

It's the new league emphasis on protecting players from concussions.

Team doctors are MUCH quicker to diagnose them now.

No place to actual say this, so I'll say it here

Having that football game at Wrigley Field was about ignorant.

I hate to be a pessimist here but....

I’m just going to say what the rest of us are thinking. We are so screwed.

This Sunday..

is looking like the perfect time for me to start drinking. I thought about it when Fox made his BSP decision but thought it had to be a joke or I was asleep and would wake up at some point but neither seems to be the case. Any suggestions on what to get? A friend said a few drinks of “Jack Black” and I would forget the whole season. Wish he had said something before now.

In my experience, if you want to mellow out, go with Bourbon. If you want to get crazy,

Tequila baby.

I was thinking that I was drinking too much....so I quit thinking
