CBS Sports Fantasy Forum: Rants & Raves

you were needing points from Eagles players last night you are raving today, especially if you played QB Michael Vick. His 57 points probably outscored a lot of teams. Imagine the guy who had a 50 point lead yet still facing Vick, how crushed must he be?

I'm raving today because I won this week against BMoyer 93-82. He was hoping WR Santana Moss would overcome a 14 point deficit; Fail! So the Cardiac Cats hold onto the lead in the Black Division in CSR1 League with a 6-3-1 record. I was helped by 20 points from my QB...Josh Freeman. (I was going for the reverse-jinx)

Who's probably ranting today is 'Ol Uncle Munnerlyn. Our last update had him at 6-0 and on top of the world, talking smack for all to hear. He's now 7-3 thanks to a total shellacking (135-59) by Tater and his Smoldering Tots! Shoot, Matt Ryan to Roddy White and 50 yds from Brandon Pettigrew is all it took to knock his lead down to a half game over the Cats. Hate it for you Unc! ;)

The standings essentially remain unchanged from the previous update with only Revshawn and Little King swapping spots.

Moving on to a review of the Top 10 scorers including a comparison of the Top 10 to those predicted by CBS Sports fantasy writers Jamey Eisenberg and Dave Richard. I'm not criticizing these guys for the current state of their predictions; I'll reveal later some draft picks I wish I would have made.

So below is a chart comparing those predictions with the actual results after week 9:

So it looks like Little King made two very good picks with Arian Foster in the 6th round and QB Kyle Orton in the 13th; yet he stands 3rd int he Black Division at 5-5 overall . Seeing Eli Manning and Matt Ryan in the top 10 is a bit surprising but otherwise seeing 8 of the top 10 being QBs is not surprise at all.

So as I look back at my draft here's the pick I made versus the one I should have made:

  • In the 2nd round, instead of WR Reggie Wayne, I should have taken WR Roddy White (+49 pts)
  • In the 3rd round, instead of RB Pierre Thomas, I could have had RB Jamaal Charles (+90)
  • In the 4th round, instead of WR Steve Smith (ours), I should have take WR Anquan Boldin (+52)
  • In the 5th round, instead of blindly thinking CJ Spiller was going to do something as a rookie, I should have taken Arian Foster (+136)
  • In the 10th round, instead of WR Josh Cribbs I could have taken the Steelers D

I'll stop at that but there are more, if I only I could pick them all, right?

So let's hear your rants and raves my fellow fantasy addicts!
