Once in a great while a situation occurs that warrants a special brew. One that embodies not just a game, but a moment in time... an event. Today with Dwayne Jarrett's second DUI as a Carolina Panthers in four years I felt it neccesary to give the fans (and Dwayne) something to responsibly drown their sorrows in.
It took a while to decide which brew would fit the bill. Do I give him a sweet send off with a great brew? Do I do the very opposite? Ultimately I decided to appeal to my caring, nurturing side and pick a brew that Dwayne can enjoy without the fear or reprisal.
Old Milwaukee Non-Alcoholic
The Brewery: Brewed by the Pabst company of Woodridge, IL specializes in light American lagers, and malt liquors of the 40 oz variety.
The Brew: Take one of the worst tasting beers you have ever had, and take away any possibility of enjoyment by removing the alcohol. This swill is penance in a can.
How it relates to the situation: All jokes aside for a second I find what Dwayne Jarrett has done this time reprehensible. I understand everyone makes mistakes, and that's why I mostly gave him a pass on the first one as a young man who had a lapse in judgement. This time he gets no such pass. This is 2010, we know how many people are killed each and every year as a result of drunk driving. Rather than embracing the blessing that he didn't hurt himself or anyone else the first time he instead chose to get behind the wheel yet again. While it's still early in this story and we're not sure what he blew there is simply no excuse... none. Drink responsibly, call a taxi... I'm pretty sure the $550,000 he is making this year could have covered it.
Price Point: If you're paying any more than $10 for a 24 pack you're getting robbed blind.
Where to buy: I have no clue. I have never seen this for sale.
