CHARLOTTE NC - OCTOBER 24: Teammates Steve Smith #89 and David Gettis #12 of the Carolina Panthers celebrate after Gettis scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter against the San Francisco 49ers during their game at Bank of America Stadium on October 24 2010 in Charlotte North Carolina. This weeks game ball selection was a tough choice. Tough that is until BW Smith gave me a good tie breaker. Panthers QB Matt Moore had a fantastic bounce back game after getting his starting job back.He went 28 for 41 for 308 yards, 2 TDs,1 INT.
I was equally impressed with rookie WR David Gettis, who flashed exactly what the Panthers have needed all season as a #2 WR. He hauled in 8 passes for 125 yds and 2 TDs. So it seemed a tough call between the two. That is until BW's suggestion:
"When 2 performances appear fairly equal always reward the rookie! Always!"
He's the one that needs the confidence. He's the oen that played over his head in a sense. Or did he?
Congratulations to WR David Gettis, the Sprint Game Ball winner in the victory over the 49ers.
