There is no way that mark Sanchez has the better knowing of the game than Clausen. Clausen played at Notre Dame in a pro-style system from day 1, freshman season. Meanwhile Sanchez only played one season as the starter @ USC. Whats the difference then? Well, for starters Sanchex has B. Edwards, S. Holmes, J. Cotchery, D. Keller, and LT......period, what else is there?
Jimmy will never have a chance if he only has Smitty who gets doubled literally every play, sometimes doubles with a safety over the top. Give the Clausen/ Smith an *, for right now just because they havent had any time together so far, and is why it seems Gettis is getting alot more looks at the moment, just the chemistry. But my point is with our running game, a coordinator who can keep the D guessing (like Sean Peyton does a wonderful job of). There is no reason not to load this guys up with talent around him and he should be able to flourish, Our D is playing great right now and I think we could learn alot from the Jets, and their upper managment. If you look at their roster after they let Farve go you would say, "Well that didnt work, and now they're gonna suck for a few more years because they have no offence, and no QB" (Kellen Clemens) Then they draft the future at QB , pick up a shit load of recievers, bring in Rex Ryan, and with Keller, LT added, and it makes Sanchez look like a decent QB only in his 2nd season. So what Im saying is, with us "rebuilding", it shouldnt take 5-10 years to be good again. If our GM grows some balls, and is allowed to (Big Cat Jerry Rich) then we could potentionally be a playoff team next year. We have a great O-Line (with Otah in there) double trouble, good young D thats only learning and getting better with Ron Meeks at the helm, and plenty of cap room. Add a yound offensive minded head coach or better play caller at O-coordinator, plus a few vets @ WR and there is no reason Clausen and the rest of the guys shoulnt be great for the years to come. We would also need to re-sign ket players like D-Will, Kalil, have TD come back healhty, etc, as well as draft great (which we normally have) I see us getting a top 10 pick maybe even top 5. Hopefully getting a beast @ DT-Suh-esk, and add depth at CB and Oline. Alot of people say go WR 1st round but unless we can get AJ Green, i say no just ride out Gettis, LaFell, Armanti, and then grab a vet..........V. Jackson would be a great pick-up in a dream world for sure.
ps. For any of this to happen though, the players/owners have to figure out the collective bargining agreement. If not I dont see jerry richardson spending any money or taking any chances on a trade/big name FA.
