Look....I've watched all the highlights, seen all the interviews, and I love the kid's athletic ability. But he is NOT EVER going to play QB for a sustained period of time (outside of subpackages like today's game and/or the "mountaineer" package)! I know, I know....Clausen has been anything but consistent, but can we be a bit objective here for a second? Is it really fair to rag on the kid for trying to keep plays alive, and when no one is open he does the SMART thing and throws it away? Or when a certain WR from LSU (Bring on the Shipley talk...I sure as hell think if AE was always in the plans we should've gone to shipley; Previous injuries aside, I'm fairly convinced the staff took lafell because they are convinced they need a Moose build at the #2, but all the blocking in the world can't make up for shitty hands) drops passes that hit him square in the hands, is it REALLY Clausen's fault? I mean for fuck's sake...Davidson called a quick screen to PEPPER'S SIDE...even Fox thought that was retarded!!!! Oh and btw...you try throwing deep after you've tweaked your plant foot (here's a hint: it hurts and it's REALLY fucking hard to do)!
As for AE, I'm actually encouraged by his hustle (not so much that drop at the end, but that one can be laid on QB and WR) and am hopeful that he starts pushing Lafell for time at the #3 over the course of practice the next 2 weeks (Clowney, while limited today, looks like he might be a decent fit for us). However, he has NO reps at QB for us, and as such is and will be nothing more than a "prop QB" if and when they line him up behind center....He has far more potential in becoming a dangerous receiving threat, and we need to ensure that his practice time goes to developing just that; not chasing some App. state fanboy dream of him playing QB for us!
