Ryan Kalil named to Pro Bowl
Kalil will replace Saints C Jonathan Goodwin in next week's game. Kalil's gotten better over each of his two seasons as a starter. He's a deserving player, to be sure.

He absolutely deserves the honor
He outplayed Goodwin by a wide margin, as it was. Won’t be the last Pro Bowl Kalil makes, IMO.
I agree completely.
I think our interior line played fantastically all season long, even after the injuries forced Wharton outside. We had a bad first half once Wharton started on the outside, and that was the end of the bad football these guys played. We’ve had such a strong offensive line since Kalil took over at the center position, and I think a lot of that’s due to his leadership and his solid play.
Week 1 was certainly ugly.
That game likely hurt him more in the player/coach voting than anything else, particularly among teams that played us and saw that film.

I don't recall us having a lot of problems with the interior line in week 1.
I just remember all of the interceptions and awful special teams play. I think I’ve still got it on the ol’ TiVo, maybe I’ll re-live some of that.
Wait, what? No. No, I will not re-live that game. Ugh. That’d be like re-watching last year’s playoff game. Or stabbing myself in the hand just to see what it was like the last time I’d stabbed myself in the hand.

The interior pressure contributed to the offensive struggles that game.
Delhomme had guys in his face before he could finish a three step drop. Kalil admitted himself that they had trouble picking up those blitzes.

The entire line was beyond awful.
Their shitty play led directly to multiple Delhomme’s picks. Kalil himself admitted as much.

Sorry r3
If I had checked I would have promoted yours instead of adding my own. Thanks for staying on top of things and getting the fanshot up.

Man...
Glad I wasn’t one of those people bitching about spending a #2 on a center with Hartwig in the fold.
