@ChrisHarrisNFL 's Fave Moments of '09 - Jonathan Stewart Rushes for 206 Yards

Carolina_panthers_v_958c_medium

After coming at you guys a few times this past week with the tall and noble order of helping our brotherly Haitians who are hurting, I figured the time had come to take a moment to talk some more football.  BUT, don't take what I just said as an excuse to forget about those who have fallen overseas --- we still need to be putting our dollars on the line today, so we can continue helping Haiti through what we all know will be the beautiful rebirth of a beautiful culture.  (Click here for more information on Panther Nation's efforts to heal Haiti.)

So let's go over another one of my favorite moments of the Panthers 2009 season.  Today I'll speak of those 206 tremendous yards Jonathan Stewart rushed for against the New York Giants...

Star-divide

Yeah -- I realize I didn't have anything to do with this favorite moment, but for me to watch from the sidelines Jonathan's brilliance with the ball stands as a feat I'll never forget.  (You know what? ...Now that I think about it, I DID do something noteworthy during that game!  I guess I lied, huh? (Ha!)  I induced another turnover for the team as I picked off one of Eli Manning's passes.  YOU KNOW I felt good about THAT!)

Anyways... 'nuff about me.  Back to J.S....

Watching his performance against one of the premier football teams in the NFL stands as one of the most impressive accomplishments I think I'll ever witness.  I mean -- these guys have been good at defense for YEARS.  So for Jonathan to do what he did is simply AMAZING!  I stood there on the sidelines with a front row perspective of him breaking tackle, after tackle, after tackle, and I was AWESTRUCK.  His domination definitely helped us in our pursuit to play the spoilers of what the Giants hoped would be a victory in their final game at Giants Stadium.

J. Stewart is right up there in the ranks of being among the best backs in the league - him and DeAngelo Williams BOTH are.  It's outstanding that they were able to enter the elite company of being only the sixth pair of running backs in NFL history to each run for over a thousand yards in a single season.  And with Jonathan being able to put together performances like he did against the Giants, I have no doubt that he's gonna put together many more record breaking seasons in the future.

That’s definitely one of my favorite moments as well.

The interception was great but I think you give yourself a bit too little credit ;). While J-Stew & the rest of the O were pounding away play after play, racking it up, you & the D were shutting Eli & Co down, play after play, evidenced by the 41-9 score that represents that game PERFECTLY!

Do you know what Eli’s QB rating was when throwing towards your area? ProFootballFocus.com says it was a 7.6! Awesome game!

Great post Chris

It has been a long time since I’ve seen a player like J-Stew when he hits the second level.

I’m glad you’re a Panther Chris, because I think you might be one of the few safeties in the NFL who can bring him down alone!

Side note, do you guys have a nickname for him? I don’t know if it’s one of those ‘locker room things’ you can’t share… but around here we call him J-Stew or Beef Stew… curious what the rest of the team calls him.

It was made even sweeter by the fact that it was the most rushing yards ever allowed in that stadium, during it’s goodbye game! Sweet revenge a year in the making after we lost to them for the playoff birth in 08. Way to help send them on their way in style Chris ;)

That game more than any other makes me look forward to next season the most. Beating the Vikings was good too, but absolutely crushing New York in their last game in their stadium was great.

Also, on a more personal level, thanks for being not only an awesome safety for the Panthers, but a good person too, as evidenced by what you’re doing to help those in Haiti.

Seeing the Vikings play so well after we beat them handily

again tells me we have a very good team that just needs to get back on the field!

Agreed -- we also beat the Giants and Cards silly.

Eagles caught us at the wrong time – I believe we could’ve handled them, too, if our game had been scheduled later in the year. We had a gap at DT, and Chris Harris’ absence was a big part of our losses in that game, and vs Atlanta and Dallas.

What made this win so special is that nobody expected it.

Everyone was expecting the Panthers to fail. Eli Manning and his Giants are going to come together and beat us. Matt Moore is an untested rookie and he may have had one good game. But there isn’t any way he’ll do it again right? It’s just a fluke! Brett Favre had an off-day and that’s what made our defense look so good!

Yup. That was the story. The G-Men were supposed close out their home stadium in a big way on their way to a wild-card birth. They were better than us, or at least that was how the media portrayed us.

That’s why it’s one of the most satisfying wins of the season. We didn’t just beat them, we slaughtered them. We put Eli Manning on the ground so many times you can still see the imprint of his arse when you visit the stadium today. We crush them so bad that I heard Goodell is thinking of moving them to England and renaming them the London Midgets.

In short, it was an awesome win that crushed the hopes of the New York Giants. I’m so glad that you’re on our side! :D

That last sentence is +++++1

Chris Harris is the anchor to my constant blitzing in Madden. Often does the blitz get beat on a quick pass, caught in wide open field, opposing wide receiver gets vertical and starts towards 6 points, BOOM! Harris flat-lines the guy for a short gain. That, or balls flyin’ everywhere as Peppers, Brown, Norwood (Had to create him :)), Beason, and Davis harass QB’s the entire game. McNabb got to the point he would just toss the ball as soon as it was snapped, way out of bounds in the flats or to the dirt in open field.

//Advanced apologies for bringing Madden up in yet another discussion. Rev, you have a facebook or twitter?//

Haha! It's funny that Chris Harris always seems to get to the QB whenever I'm blitzing him.

He’s only rated in the high 70’s in Madden, maybe it’s just destiny? You can’t code Harris into mediocrity, he’s going to get you whether you like it or not. I love it though in this Madden that the ball will flop out of their hand like a ((insert catchy phrase here))

But yeah, sadly I don’t have a Facebook yet. I’m thinking about hopping on Twitter later once I get a new cell phone that supports it. I just wish they would rename the dang thing so that it seems more manly. I still have a problem telling someone that I’m tweeting to the internet. It just sounds wrong.

Guy B: Yeah just tweet me the info!!

Guy A: WTF! Tweet you? Are you wearing panties now?

Guy B: Uh… Well, Chris Harris is my friend!

Guy A: REALLY?! WHERE CAN I SIGN UP??
