Update - Panthers Potential PR Mark Jones Fails Physical

Update by Jaxon:

Former Panther return man Mark Jones failed his physical and therefore will not be rejoining the team.

Attempts to bring back last year’s return man, Mark Jones(notes), were derailed Monday when he failed a physical. Jones was cut by Tennessee last week after being slowed by a hamstring injury in the preseason.

Returner Jones 'expects' to sign

Mark Jones, who handled punt/kick returns for the Carolina Panthers last season, is at Bank of America Stadium this morning and says he "expects to sign" with the team within the next few hours.

Jones said he's finishing up his physical and expects to be offered a deal contingent on him passing that.

Jones, who signed with the Tennessee Titans in the offseason and was cut by them last week, had been hampered by a hamstring injury in the preseason. He says the injury has healed.

Jones averaged 11.4 yards on 39 punt returns for the Panthers last season and 24.0 yards on kickoffs.
