Vick, McNabb, Youtube Today.

Michael Vick (3:40 of video)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvlp-sCVKSg

He sounds very humble, but also very coached in what to say. I would love to hear him speak spontaneously.

Donovan McNabb: (About 4 min of video)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHPShY2r3jA

Donovan sounds very mature, very accepting and open. Way more mature than the historic Donovan.

Listen to the Vick video especially and tell me he doesn't sound like Robo-Vick.

McNabb sounds really gracious and mellow about the whole thing.

You be the judge.

The best part

Of Vick talking, IMO, was when he said something to the effect of …

“I am very aware that you only get one shot at a second chance so I will try to not mess this up”.

Uhh yeah, you also only get one shot at a first chance but ya screwed that one up a long time ago.

My opinion

Vick was totally coached, he might as well have been reading off a teleprompter. We will never, EVER hear Vick speak spontaneously on the matter. The pure fact is no-one wanted to hear him praising the Eagles organization or hear about football, they wanted to hear genuine contrition, which we don’t get from this video.

As for McNabb… who knows? Almost immediately after the interview profootballtalk.com ran a story that a source inside the Eagles organization said Donovan had no prior information about the team’s interest in Vick until about 30 minutes before we heard This same source said that McNabb was irate about the signing, but didn’t really want to be too vocal given the Eagles gave him a raise when they didn’t need to.

The only thing I really agree with is McNabb basically saying the wildcat is overrated and wont last long. The wildcat scheme is one that seems to have gained almost mythic proportions because of ESPN, and in reality it’s not some super, unstoppable formation.

You must not have heard the whole presser...
  • He talked about how he had just recently learned that there are people who care about the welfare and treatment of their animals. Go PETA!
  • He also talked about how he was thisclose to turning his life around just before he got, you know, arrested.

You don’t think statements like this are legit and genuine?

As to your last point about the wildcat, yeah, it can definitely be stopped. Look at Miami against Baltimore and NE the second time after their coaches had a chance to break it down.

Remember, kids...don't ever let facts get in the way of your argument.

What Vick should have said

Dang man, prison sucks.

Doing the dog thing seemed like a good idea at the time and I thought it was no big deal because everybody was into it, and I was carried away with all the positive attention I was getting for still being a thug guy who was also a millionaire TV-star. Not to make excuses, which that is, but I got carried away and thought I was invincible.

Guest what, I’m not invincible. You all knew it, now I do. I lied to the commish – a bad thing, I ran dog fighting rings, which was a dumb thing, considering I was a mega-millionaire based on public image from this great sport, and in addition, I pretty much held my adoring public in contempt with my dumb behavior.

OK, now you know how I feel, and you know I know how you feel. Football season’s coming up and I got my life to repair and my body and mind to train before I get too old to do this any more. I figure I still got maybe 5 years to do this thing before some rookie safety out of LSU removes my kneecap with a “bone-crushing hit”.

So let’s get on with this thing. I promise not to do dumb stuff. I will work to be the entertaining athlete that I can be and run around a whole bunch, so the football from me will be fun and entertaining. I don’t like prison or lectures from Goodell or being thought of as a lying semi-criminal, so my best personal choice is to keep clean and read my playbook and call Tony Dungy whenever I am unsure about a personal choice.

Thanks to the Eagles for giving me a shot. I hope I will make them glad they did.
