Simply Amazing: Panthers WR Steve Smith Back in Practice

At first blush we thought his shoulder was broken. They we thought he was just done for the preseason. Now Panthers WR Steve Smith is back on the field.

Smith was dressed in full pads for the workout and began running drills with the other receivers after stretching. At one point he was waving both arms above his head while talking to a teammate, a welcome sight for a team that has little depth behind its four-time Pro Bowl selection.

Can I get a collective "Whew!!"? Smith has to be one of the toughest players in the league at any position. This is the same guy that was just wearing a sling a couple days ago.

Smith wore a sling on Tuesday and coach John Fox said he wasn't sure if Smith would play in any preseason games. He was seen riding a stationary bike Wednesday and Thursday while the team practiced.

Finally some good news. Let's move on feeling a little lucky for a change.

While I am very, very happy to see him back and not hurt (don’t get me wrong there), I just don’t want himself running back out there while he isn’t at least 80-85%. We all know Smitty is a helluva tough guy, but I just don’t want him hurting himself by going back out there to early.

All in all though, very glad to see him back on the practice field. Hopefully he will sit out the Giants game just to be sure.

He's limited so far.

The team and the trainers will be smart, I’m sure.

The rumor being spread

Is that Smitty pulls some stunt every camp to prove he is tough.

That would be a hard stunt to pull off...faking an injury?

So last year the ‘stunt’ was punching Ken Lucas? ‘Tough’ wasn’t the first adjective I thought of after that stunt.

Lol

The Keyshawn year he faked pulling a hamstring and in 04 he faked his injury so well they kept him out the entire season.

I don’t buy the conspiracy, but there does seem to be some Smitty drama every year

Keep dreaming ncmo. The Panthers have a choke artist starting for them at QB so I wouldnt count on all those bold predictions coming true. And yes, lets play Smith in all four quarters in every one of those meaningful preaseason games. lol

huh?

DWG, not sure what predictions you’re talking about. Smitty is back at practice, pulls stunts sometimes, and hopefully isn’t going to play through an injury during the preseason. What are you talking about, and why the desire to bash Jake in a blog about Smitty coming back?

There has been no official announcement.

Smith told reporters that a decision had been made, but he wasn’t going to announce it.
