Primetime with the Packman on WFNZ was at practice today and interviewed a ton of players. They have some of them on their website...

More Player interviews on the Mac Attack...
http://www.wfnz.com/pages/139668.php
Interviews with Dwayne Jarrett, Mike Goodson, Richard Marshall, Josh McCown, Captain Munnerlyn, Jordan Gross, Jeff Otah, Jon Beason and Damione Lewis.
I found it really interesting that multiple players (including Damione Lewis, Beason and Chris Harris who's audio is not on the website) said the biggest player surprise of the off-season has been Captain Munnerlyn. We might have landed a 7th round gem.

I saw some sites that predicted him to go in the third
No surprise here.

Yeah, that's what people said before the season...
But he had lots of coachability/attitude issues, and his play was as bad as it ever was in college.

Some points from the Gross, McCown, and Munnerlyn interview
Gross pointed out Bernadeau (C/G), Schwartz (RT/RG), and Robinson (G) as playing well as back ups. The starters have been taking every rep together since earlier in the off-season. Last year we were shifting guys around and had a battle at RG. Continuity. FYI – Bernadeau was Gross’ pick as best surprise.
McCown feels good going into his second season in the same offense, the first time that has happened in his pro career.

Fox was excited about Bernadeau's potentital.
He said he could see him being ready to step right into Hangartner’s OG/C swing backup role.

Some points from the Goodson, Marshall, and DJ interview
Marshall said DJ has been working harder in the weight room and on the practice field. He also said the CB will “put there hands on the WR more.” More jamming at the line sounds good to me.
Marshall’s biggest surprise of TC was how Meeks calls out everyone whether they are a star or not.
DJ, McCown and Munnerlyn all said they were surprised how good the weather has been.

Nice update Will
I like the sound of Munnerlyn playing WR tough at the line. Sounds like if he doesn’t make the roster he’s on the practice squad for sure.

Yes, the report from all has been that the weather has been shockingly mild.

Surprise would indicate low expectations.
In that case, I’d say it’ll be Munnerlyn, who probably was no better than a 50/50 shot to make the team as of the draft. But if he can also be a good ST player in addition to his good work he’s shown at corner so far (he’s apparently in the mix to even be the nickel on occasion), I’d love to be able to keep him over Wesley. It’d save about $325K, which could be the difference in being able to sign a body and a decent 52nd-man contributor in the event of an injury down the road. His play, though, highlights what a disappointment Martin has been, particularly when you compare him to Sean Smith of the Dolphins (picked two spots later), who is running as a starter in Miami.

Oh...
I’ll also note that all it really takes of a 7th-rounder to be a gem is to make the roster for the few seasons. I think a guy like Michael Gaines qualifies.

Maybe....
Personally, I expect starters from the first, second, and select third rounders, solid backups/spot starters out of the third and fourth, and backups the rest of the way. A pick is a success if he sticks, if he excels it’s a gem.

Yeah, I guess that's fair.
But history shows that only something like 20% of 7th-rounders are ever going to make teams at all.

So when they make the team it's a success, not a gem.
I’m saying I’m not going to call a backup a gem of a find, unless he’s a very good backup like Hangartner, etc. A gem would be like Marques Colston.

Do not forget . . .
Tom Brady or Terrell Davis

A gem is a crystalline rock that can be cut and polished for jewelry
I think how we apply it towards athletes is up for grabs ;)

There were also some on the Mac Attack… http://www.wfnz.com/pages/139668.php
The one with Jake is pretty good. And again more props for the Captain… “Munnerlyn is feisty and aggressive and always seems make a play”
