A little diddy on Why I don't trust Jake

After being double-teamed (like Smitty playing opposite Keary Colbert) about my Jake comments, I feel the need to explain myself.  This is a brief explanation, with no stats (for Proc to rip apart), on why I have a bad "feeling" about Jake.  And before you tell me "feelings" mean Jack, just read and see if you can relate.

I was born in 1979... j/k, I'm really going to try to make this brief...

In 03' I was high on Jake.  He took us where no man had before, and even went head to head with Tom Brady in what was the most exciting Superbowl I'd ever seen.  In 04' he didn't let me down either.  I was just happy that despite all the injuries they nearly came back to make the playoffs.  But then in 05' things started getting a little weird...

We were having a great season in large part, what seemed to be due to Steve Smith leading in almost every statistical category.  However amidst all the great wins, we kept running into these weird games where we looked like a deer caught in headlights.  I think I remember it in the Cowboys and Bears regular season games and eventually Seattle in the playoffs.  It seemed like if these teams found a way to slow down Smitty then we had no other option.  That wasn't Jake's fault, but to me he became a warning sign.  You could tell early in the game, if Jake threw a few interceptions, got sacked or fumbled a couple times... you knew it wasn't going to get any better.

I didn't blame Jake though because we never really had a great running game or another option opposite Steve Smith.  06' seemed more of the same.  We had Keyshawn, but Fox wanted to run and we couldn't.  But still I could tell the outcome by Jake's performance early on.

08' comes along and whala!  The running games back, Moose is a viable #2.  Even Rosario and Jarrett seemed to start the season well.  All kinds of weapons!  But then Oakland happened and Tampa Bay.  And even though we had these new weapons, I could still tell early on from Jake what the result would be.  But this time I couldn't blame it on the running game or lack of receivers.  I start thinking... maybe all this time Jake was somewhat responsible???  And then Arizona rolls around... Jake throws his first interception, and it hits me!... this game is over. Then like clock-work 2, 3, 4 more interceptions!

So has Jake had some incredible games? Of course!  But in 09' watch for those early signs from Jake, and see if it doesn't eerily predict the outcome.
