Panthers LB Davis Car Stolen
I can't imagine that any thief would actually think they could drive this car around without being noticed since it has a picture of Panthers LB Thomas Davis ingrained in the steering wheel:
If nothing else, the steering wheel -- which includes a football and a photo of Davis -- would be a giveaway.
Davis reported to police that his 1975 Chevrolet Caprice Classic was taken sometime early Saturday from the front of his home on Grimmersborough Lane in the Providence Plantation community of southeast Charlotte.
See the car after the jump:
The car is reportedly worth $136,000. (Please insert your favorite T Davis with a purple car joke here). My bet is it is headed for the chop shop which would be a crying shame.
If you think that car is hot check this one out. I've seen this one around for a while but finally had a camera at the same time. The owner works at the best pizza joint in Charleston, Andollini's on Rivers Ave.
Notice the 2003 NFC Champion sticker over the gas door! I went in spoke with the owner and we had a lovely discussion that culminated with "It all depends on Jake!" Is this guy a diehard Panther fan or what?

I love this guy's enthusiasm!
…but you gotta wonder about rear-window visibility with that big ol’ faded Panther logo :)
$130,000 car?
maybe thats how much money he has dumped into it. But it isn’t worth that. not by a long shot.
your very right
according to Hemmings 1975 chevolet caprice is worth roughly 24,900 dollars if at a 1 rating (classic car scale of 1-5, 1 being best, 5 being junker). However, 2’s are nice show cars and 1’s are trailer queens that don’t really exist because their perfect (concours correct from the factory).
Knowing this, he could have a hundred thousand in this (impossible) and still not have it be worth $130,000 because outside of the world of shelbys and camaro big block SS’s, most people don’t even come close to getting back their restoration costs in a sale.
haha just food for thought sorry if thats info overload.

Haven’t seen much of you around here, but glad to see there’s an expert for the topic on hand.

Interesting.
I’m sure you appreciate the address being listed and the bull’s-eye to it on the Observer article online.

Perhaps Davis is a secret Vikings fan?
Shame Shame Davis, I thought we raised you better.

Andolini’s is the best local pizza place in Charleston.
I’m partial to the Mellow Mushroom. $2 vodkas and $5 Irish car bombs every night. Plus the bartenders were usually so wasted you could get destroyed on a $8 tab. The only problem is that it’s a Falcons bar. Sweet TVs, though.
The last time I was there, I was watching the Falcons get beat by the Cardinals in the playoffs, and laughing at all my friends/Falcon fans.
That came back to bite me BIGTIME.

I love the Mushroom as well...which one are you referring to?
When I went to GT we would go to the what I believe is the original one in Midtown, on W. Peachtree or Ponce maybe? I know there is one off of Monroe as well if my memory serves me well. They opened one in downtown Columbia a couple years ago which is as good as the original. Yours sounds more fun though!
