A Few Thoughts from Around the NFL...
None of which is very Panthers-related at this point, but I wanted to share, so feel free to move on if you so desire.
Adrian Wilson signs four-year extension: Good story for a local kid (he's from High Point) who's become one of the best players at his position in the league. For all the talk in the last couple days about how great Rodney Harrison was and how he's the only member of the 30 sack-30 INT club, Wilson's actually on pace to get there about halfway through his 13th year. It took Harrison 15 years (although he had plenty without playing 16 games.) I had hoped we mihght have a shot to get him home in Carolina at some point to give us the top-end safety presence we haven't had since Deon Grant left to get overpaid by Jacksonville, but it seems the guy is pretty happy in Arizona. This'll also likely allow them a bit more room to sign either Anquan Boldin or Karlos Dansby to a new deal, making the returning SB representative from the NFC that much more dangerous.
Nehemiah Broughton: Remember how we had to cut him to save a few thousand bucks to stay under the cap? Well, it was always assumed that he'd eventually be back, but the drafting of one Tony Fiammetta changed all that. I got curious and looked him up today, and fortunately, he was at least able to find a job. Must have been disappointing for him, but hey, he got signed up with the Vikings, and they don't really have any established vets at the position, though Adrian Peterson's success last year and the Vikings' willingness to match an offer sheet from the Bentals showed Naufahu Tahi probably knows what he's doing. Think of it this way, Nemo: you might get a chance to lead block for All Day in camp, and that'll be cool!
Otis Grigsby: There were those who REALLY thought he should be a starter for the Panthers and were certain he'd be a Pro Bowler if not future Hall of Famer when given the chance liked this guy, but after four unproductive games on the roster (1 tackle, 1 PD), he was dropped down to the practice squad in favor of Gary Gibson, and was eventually signed to Minnesota's active roster off the PS. He was also nondescript up there (1 sack for his only tackle and a PD in eight games), and was to have entered RFA this year. However, he wasn't tendered an offer (like Gibson for us), and was on the FA market for longer than a month before going back up to Minny on what was likely a minimum offer. So, just goes to show you that preseason standouts some times are really just that.

Nice post MP
I was one of those that liked Grigsby but I wasn’t THAT high on him. I guess this shows again that Furney is pretty good at what they do.
I blog the Carolina Panthers at www.catscratchreader.com

I LOVED Grigsby
and the other receiver, Taye Biddle. I thought both of those guys should make the roster for sure.

Taye Biddle...
is another who never did anything after the Panthers let him go. He caught on to a few practice squads, and came up to the Giants 53-man roster to be inactive for one game when Plaxico was suspended, but the most notable he’s been lately is when he was shot in Alabama this January. He has recovered, though, and is working with the Giants in their offseason program.
Remember, kids...don't ever let facts get in the way of your argument.
