The USA advances to the Confederation Cup Finals
As a Carolina Panther blogger, you will usually see me post nothing but football. You'll see me rant about Jake Delhomme and the shenanigans about Julius Peppers. However, today I shall post about the other football, which we have affectionately renamed Futball. Of course, I'm speaking of soccer. In the World Cup Semifinals, our team played a hell of a defensive game the last 45 minutes, beating the crap out Spain to stave off elimination and advance to the finals.
Spain had been on a 35 game unbeaten streak, held the #1 rank in the world, and was regarded as many as favorites to win the World Cup. This victory has the potential to become one of the greatest upsets in USA futball history, especially if the US wins it all in the end.
Just thought I'd keep you guys up to date.

I hope the “gotcha” refers to the entire post and not just Peppers. And if not, I hope you are drunk.

I must disagree slightly that we beat the crap out of them. Spain looked fundamentally much better than the US. The 2 goals where dinky shots, and were the result of mistakes by Spain’s D. We played pretty good D, but Spain’s ball handling and goal attempts made ours look like high school Soccer. However our goalkeeper, Howard was outstanding, and we capitalized on their mistakes. Looking forward to Sunday!

Yes...
They largely outplayed us, but we converted when it mattered.

Both were scrappy, oportunistic goals
but we will take it! Sunday should be fun!

They had killer passes
ours not so much. But give our guys credit, the Spanish were faster to the ball the entire night, and on that last goal, just as the guy was about to kick it out, our guy hooks around and scores!!! I’m not much of a soccer guy, but even i can appreciate that.

That is not funny Rev
The Rickroll thing. BTW, its not the World Cup, its the Confederations Cup, unless that was part of the joke too.

Alright, the joke was in bad taste. It's been taken off.
Once again I have been taught the valuable lesson of fact checking before I post, especially on a sport I know little about. I’m new to soccer, and though I have the rules of the game down I didn’t know that it wasn’t time for the World Cup yet. Nevertheless upsetting the #1 team in the world is a pretty big deal, which is why I though it relevant to post.
In any case, the necessary corrections have been made. Apologies for ignorance!

Good win...
But again, we get dicked by the refs. The red and the yellow we got for the challenges were totally overboard.

Alexi Laulas (sp?) said that the red card was justified b/c our player went in spikes first.
I personally do not know, I am just repeating what I have heard.

Lalas...
But it’s not just that call. It’s over and OVER.
