NFL's All-Decade Defensive Team
ESPN.com's Mike Sando just wrote an article about the nfl's all decade defensive team. Even though the 2000-2010 decade is not over yet (my 10 year HS reunion is right around the corner...yikes), he said that he has enough information to already make his judgements. One of the picks may surprise you. Its a Panther.
Below is a list of the top 11 guys of the 21st century. Well, so far at least.
DE: Michael Strahan, N.Y. Giants,
DT: Warren Sapp, Tampa Bay/Oakland
DT: Kris Jenkins, Carolina/N.Y. Jets
DE: Jason Taylor, Miami/Washington
LB: Derrick Brooks, Tampa Bay
LB: Ray Lewis, Baltimore
LB: Brian Urlacher, Chicago
CB: Champ Bailey, Washington/Denver
CB: Troy Vincent: Phil./Mia./Buff./Wash.
S: Ed Reed, Baltimore
S: Troy Polamalu, Pittsburgh
So what do you think? I was a little surprised that Jenks was up there considering his injuries. Are you surprised by any of the players? If so, which one(s)?

I don't like Vincent or Polamalu or Urlacher

Who would you like in their place?

Oh, I see Barber for Vincent and Thomas for Urlacher, but who would you switch for Polamalu?

Without looking, probably Dawkins.
I don’t think a guy having played in 66% of a decade should qualify for that decade’s top players.

Vincent is one I would disagree with
Chris McAlister comes to mind as a replacement.
I blog the Carolina Panthers at www.catscratchreader.com
Or Ronde Barber
And maybe I’d pick Zach Thomas as my LB over Urlacher.

At his best, he's consistently a dominant force...
Injuries cost him some time at the top, but when he’s right, he’s amazing.

Richard Seymour seems like the correct choice opposite Sapp.
Kevin Williams is also another fine option. John Henderson, for his greatness in the first 2/3 of the decade. I dunno, Jenkins seems like he might not make my top five.

They were listing Seymour as a DE.
And Williams came into the league two years later and Henderson only made two PBs (and no All-Pros), which was another big part of their selection criteria.

Well, that makes no sense since Seymour made his five Pro Bowls as a DT.

No...
‘04-’06 were as an End.
