"I've been very, very fortunate with the guys that I've had. I had Bubba Franks as a rookie (in Green Bay). I had Alge Crumpler (in Atlanta), who was as good a tight end as I've been around ... I use those guys a lot. Quite a bit."

Are we uhhskared?
We know Winslow’s been an injury risk, averaging just under nine games a season in his NFL career, but he’s played in 42 over the last three seasons. We also know he’s been an off-the-field disaster, but so far, he’s saying all the right things in Tampa, them just having ponied up $36 million for his new contract. So will we be able to handle him if he’s healthy for both of our games this season? He’s played against us just once, going for 8-55 with only one first down reception as the Browns’ leading receiver in an ugly 2006 game started by Charlie Frye.
Also, an update on the Bucs’ QB situation from ESPN this morning: the word is that Tampa would likely prefer to start Josh Freeman unless he falls on his face in training camp, in which case Byron Leftwich is probably the leader right now. The organization believes, as they did with Raheem Morris, that the best learning that can take place for a guy who is destined to lead eventually is on the job.

Not scared. A little jealous, actually.
I certainly think he’ll be a prime target, and maybe even the Buc’s best weapon this year.
Lots of dump passes and check downs will go his direction, not to mention he’s a good route runner and has great hands- so deeper passes will probably be in the mix.
Most people hate on K2, but I have to admit that I like him- he’s a competitor first and foremost. Hell, I wouldn’t want to live in Cleveland either- so I can’t knock him for wanting out. I also took his side in the staph infection drama. Sure, he’s a self-promoter, but he works hard, and genuinely (I think) likes the sport.
If he’s healthy and paired with a halfway competent QB, he’d be one of the best in the league. I’m definitely not thrilled about having him in our division for the foreseeable future.

Ha...I hear we play them pretty frequently.
And we also apparently have problems covering tight ends?

Heh. Well, I guess we are desperate for updates at this point.
I gotta nuke this site with my top 32 NFL teams article soon. I’ve been waiting for Brett Favre to hurry up and sign with the Vikings so I can put them in the top 5 teams in the nation. It’ll be awesome. No one will read it because it’s so long, but it’ll be awesome.

Thanks man!
If Brett Favre messes around too long, I’ll just release it early. The guy needs to hurry up and make up his mind.
I read that the current storyline yesterday was that he secretly signed a contract with the Vikes, and the agent said he didn’t. So we’ll see what happens. If his arm holds up the entire season, he’ll have a good chance of leading his new team to a Super Bowl.
Then he’ll write a book called “There and back again.” by Brett Favre. On the cover it will be split into two parts, one side with young Favre winning the SB as a Packers player, the other with old Favre winning as a Vikings player. Everyone will buy it in all parts of the world and it will stimulate the economy, ending the recession. With the money Brett Favre makes from the book, Brett Favre will solve world hunger and invent the cancer-be-gone pill. He’ll go into history not only as the greatest QB or player of any sport the world has ever known, but also the greatest contributor to mankind, period.
And everyone will be better off.

"If Brett Favre messes around too long..."
So…if he’s still breathing, then?
As for the contract report, it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s somewhere in the middle, i.e. there’s an agreed-to contract if he does come back, but that decision isn’t final again.

Since were on the subject of Football (or Futbol)
USA just made it to the Semifinals of the Condfederations Cup. Having married into a Latino family, I now enjoy a little summertime international soccer. However I doubt anyone here cares… eh?

Everyone here in South Africa
is pumped for the Confederations, but mostly for the World Cup. Every other ad on TV is for the World Cup. It’s insane! Luckily South African music has a good beat, so it doesn’t get old, although it might make you dance. : ) Did anyone see the highlights of US/Egypt?

Yup, very nice win
The USA side looks good. Could we actually make the 2nd round in the World Cup again? I’m a hoping.

But doesn't it seem like the refs'll screw us any chance they get?
There’s NEVER an American referee in the major tournaments, and we always end up going down a man if we get off to a surprising start against a highly-regarded team.

I heard there was a hand ball in the box in this game
That prevented a goal. Yes, it does seem the USA doesn’t get a fair shake from the ref’s.

I was able to watch the whole game.
Italy/Brazil was playing the same time, and in order for the US to advance to Semifinals, they had to pull off a 6 pt differential against Italy. Well it was such a long shot, the announcers didn’t even mention it until the 2nd half. Italy quickly fell 0-3 to Brazil, and US was 1-0 against Egypt when they mentioned it. The US then pulled out another 2 goals to win 3-0, knocking both Italy and Egypt out of the tournament.

It was an amazing game
Really we could have been 2-1 if it wasn’t for that red card against Italy. Lets see what we can do against Spain.

Honestly...
I’m a bit scared…of Winslow, not of their QB’s. With B. Johnson emerging last year and Winslow coming in, I think they’ll have a good receiving combo there. As much as Winslow is a distraction, I think he’s a top tier TE and has a lot of talent. Unlike V. Davis who is gonna be a huge bust. However, so far, both have played in pretty anemic offenses.

Antonio Bryant?
I think that’s who you were talking about…and I think they were really smart in waiting to see if he can repeat his performance before they locked him up long-term.
Remember, kids...don't ever let facts get in the way of your argument.

I agree.
And yes, sorry, I had a brain fart there. I think Bryant Johnson was a WR for the Redskins for a while or something. But yeah, it kinda sucks for A. Bryant that he wasn’t locked into a deal because I believe his numbers wont be that impressive this year because of how revamped that team wil be and the chance of having a rookie QB running the show. That may mean that TB will get him cheaper the following year or they may let him go. If that’s the case I’d love to snatch him up. Despite his numbers being a one year anomaly, I think he showed a lot of talent throughout the season and especially against us in that Monday night game. He’s got good size and could be a great number 2 for a guy like Smith.

Bryant has always had the talent. It was his attitude which limited him.
