Jonathan Stewart has not practiced at all but says he will be ready for camp in August.
Jonathan Stewart, Carolina’s first round pick in 2008, is taking some heat from teammates about practice.
"You're going to take some teasing. They're out there busting their butt with me just sitting on the sideline for the second year in a row," Stewart said moments after the Panthers concluded voluntary workouts this week. "I'm really taking the heat for that."
Last year (rookie year) Stewart did not practice because he had toe surgery in the offseason. If he plays like he did last year this could be a good thing. He set a franchise rookie record of 836 yards and 10 touchdowns. Paired up with DeAngelo Williams you have the best running back tandem in the NFL.

Really doesn’t matter i want to protect both of these guys and remember after this season it will be time to restruct D-Williams contract and get him signed long term b/c I am sure his contract based w/ bounes and incentives will be a high number.

Or a Titans fan. Or a Giants fan. Or hell, even a Bucs fan.

Flowing Willow, my vote was yes.
It was a NO brainer…..

Probably...
Just some haters ;) I’m anxious to see what Stewie can do this year — since he’s no longer “new” to Davidson’s system and such. Also, he wont have the rookie jitters AND he’s not fresh off of his surgery.

He is...
…still nursing soreness in his Achilles for overcompensating during his turf-toe surgery recovery, though. I hope he gets 100% healthy by training camp…and certainly by opening day…so we can see the full throttle Stewart on the field.

I just watched the J-Stew video highlights from the Bucs game
How can any Panther fan watch this video and NOT get fired up. Stewart decimated the Bucs. The last clip is the end around where he stiff armed barber into the turf. Man I can’t wait to watch this guy run again 2009!

Man o’ man, I do get extremely fired up when I watch that particular MNF clip! You just make that face like, “oooooo that’s gotta hurt!” when he stiff arms people. That kid is solid beef.

Watch out Falcons fans!
you give Double Trouble too much motivation and you might end up like the Bucs last year. : )

I say both RB’s end up with 1000 + yards

Ha.
That’ll be patently absurd, but hey, I’ll take it.

Absurd?
Jacobs and Ward did it last year. It is unlikely for sure, but why such a strong disagreement?

It just happens on a ridiculously rare basis.
Last year aside, how many times has it been done total? I’d guess 10-15 in the history of the league. Part of the reason the Giants were able to pull it off was that Jacobs got injured and Ward got to start three games, so they were at a very even 219-182 in carries. Stewart averaged a very solid 4.5 YPC last year, but he’ll need to stay right on that and pick up another 40 carries to reach the 1000-yard mark. Not that I don’t see him stealing a few more carries from Williams, but he’ll have to stay healthy and be just as productive with defenses gunning for him.

Relax a little
It is the off-season. Now is the time to be optimistic. I bet even some Lions fans think they have a shot at being legit. When the season comes, even the most talented team can lose for any number of reasons.

Not only does it not happen very frequently (just because of the distribution of carries over the course of a season)…but, we also play some much stronger run defenses this year. We’ll be lucky to keep the same numbers from last year.

Whats up gentlemen
Big 9ers fan but the Panthers are my team in the NFC South so I’m joining you guys too. Love Williams and Stewart. In fact, I won my fantasy league championship bc I picked up Williams on waivers at the beginning of the season. He’s a champ! What I don’t like about the Panthers and this is the only player I don’t like is Delhomme. He’s just too inconsistent to me. He’ll have a great game, throw for 300 yards and then have a stinker like the Raiders game last year or even worse, the playoff game against the Cards. I think Stewart will be just fine. Him and Williams share the load so it won’t be too hard for him to get back in the groove. As long as they are ranked higher than White and Johnson then I’m happy. Out.

So what was it like for you in the old NFC west days?

I'd say things are lookng up
I think the Cards got hot at the right time(you guys saw that first hand). I don’t think they will have the same success(They are still the Cards). The Seacocks will be back and better if healthy. The lambs ofcourse have a long ways to go. I think it’s time for the 9ers to take back the division. They got the guys to do it and either Hill or Smith will be decent. They can do it. I think your division is going to be difficult to win no matter the team. A lot of talent on all sides but I’ll be pulling for you.

Oh I'm sorry old days...
Well when you guys had Seifert after the stupid 9ers let him go, you killed us frequently lol. Good times. That was stupid that you guys were in our division to begin with. Should’ve been with the NFC EAST. We had some good games though.
