NFC South gets tougher...Tony Gonzalez to the Falcons
CBS Sports is reporting that the Chiefs have traded Tony Gonzalez to the Falcons for a 2nd round pick. Im not sure how he'll fit into their scheme, but he makes an already tough Atlanta team even more potent.
What do you guys think about this trade? At first glance, it seems like a steal for the Falcons to me, but I haven't looked at it too much. Did Ryan even throw to his tight ends last year?
This is gonna be one loaded division this year.

He fits well with their scheme
A solid (maybe great QB) + a great running game + Roddy White + Gonzalez + an improving OL = scary offense. This makes the additions for the DL/CB even more important.

Seems they overpaid
How many more seasons can he play? 2-3 at most? The Falcons are acting like its win this year or we are all canned. I guess I can’t blame them.
Agree the NFC South is going to be very tough this year

I don't see it like that
it gives them a great stop-gap for a couple of years at TE, while they can try to build up the defense and develop a TE or something.
Their offense is just scary now… Ryan, Turner, Roddy! and Gonzo. Maybe they need another WR, but other than that…
And a 2nd rounder is what the Chiefs wanted, I don’t think they would’ve gotten any higher. Though I am kinda surprised that it’s a pick from next year.

They were forced to give the 2nd rounder.
The Eagles ponied up a 3rd for him, and they had to either beat their deal or risk him going to the Eagles.
I agree though, their offense is indeed scary now. Don’t worry though, with one good rookie DL our defense can be pretty scary too. We’ll be a competitor.
