Official CSR Pick the Panthers Draft Thread
Okay my fellow Panther fans now is the time to channel your inner Fox & Hurney or ‘Furney' if you will and see if you can predict who the Panthers will draft with their 5 current picks. Of course when the Panthers make a trade or even two as they are prone to do it will screw it all up but honestly if you can nail even one pick you've done well.
So here's my shot in the dark:
#59: DE/DT Jarron Gilbert (SDSU) - Gilbert was my selection in the SBN mock draft so I'm going to stick with it. You can read my write-up on him here.
#93 CB Victor Harris (VT) - I like his size and play-making ability plus he can return kicks. Harris is a natural leader that could contribute immediately as a nickel corner.
#128 C/G Jonathan Luigs (Ark) - Luigs has great size, is durable and can fill in at any of the three middle spots on the offensive line. His slightly short arms will allow him to fall to the Panthers and provide the much needed depth on the o-line.
#163 DT Roy Miller (Tex) - The Panthers add another big body to the defensive line in hopes they can complete their rotation and depth without having to dip into the very shallow DT free agent pool. Miller showed improvement in his 40 time at his Pro Day and those 36 reps on the bench show this kid won't be pushed around.
#202 OT Andrew Gardner (GT) - The Panthers will hope the under-rated All ACC performer can develop into the needed depth behind LT Jordan Gross.
So lets see your picks my fellow feline fanatics! Will we be calling you Nostradamus or Nostra-dumbass (most likely for me)!
Go Panthers! Trade Peppers!

Not bad
I’ll try to post my thoughts tomorrow, or Saturday morning.
True Blue Jazz
RIP Nick Adenhart. 4/9/09
This would be interesting...
Simply in that we typically go towards some under-the-radar/small school prospects towards the end of the draft. After Gilbert, these are all guys from bigtime schools.
Well...
this would be a good draft class. Id would be happy with Roy Miller in the third or fourth, much less fifth. Also I like DJ Moore or Jairus Byrd in the second if they are the best player on the board. MichaelProcton, I don’t really understand your comment.

Another Gilbert?
I am having nightmarish flashbacks of another Gilbert that financially crippled my Panthers for several years. This time we will get it right. With baited breath and crossed fingers I will patiently wait on the successful outcome of Gilbert DT/DE v 2.0. I am happy with the Panthers’ patience and I hope that Pep steps it up and plays like the Pro we all know he is.
Panthers will run the NFC South in 09’.
So not a single other person is willing to try and guess who we will pick?
I guess they are afraid of being called Nostra-dumbass!

Pick #59
My guess would be the same. I like Jarron Gillbert with that pick. I’ll continue to look at the other ones tonight and post my predictions.
As poor as these guesses will be...Ill try
59. Jerron Gilbert, DE/DT, SDSU
The Panthers really lack DT depth outside of Ma’ake Kemoeatu same goes for DE.
93. Victor Harris, CB, Virginia Tech
The Panthers waived CB Ken Lucas with the rise of Richard Marshall. Depth is needed.
128.Kraig Urbik, OG, Wisconsin
The Panthers OL depth is very thin a solid G would be great
163. A.Q. Shipley, C, Penn St. also like Louis Vasquez, G, Texas Tech here
Again adding depth here to the OL unless someone really falls here or the Panthers are happy with current backups
202. Pannel Egboh, DE, Stanford or Zach Potter, DE, Nebraska
Yet another depth move this time on the DL side both could be good with time and can provide help now if needed and could add size to become DT
Bad spellers of the world untie.
My Picks Baby!!
Really don’t think we will still be picking at No.59 tomorrow, but if we are…
No.59 – Sean Smith, CB, Utah, Tall corner who I think will be the best available
No.93 – Duke Robinson, OG, Oklahoma – Big and good against the run
No.128 – Brandon Williams, DE, Texas Tech, Good production, will be a project until we unload Peppers.
No.163 – TJ Lang, OT, Eastern Michigan, Tough and durable tackle
No.202 – Juaquin Iglesias, WR, Oklahoma – productive receiver and potential kick returner
I think we will sign FA Dewayne Robertson to help our DT situation.
Nice picks
Fills all the needs but DT which you cover with the FA pick-up. Well thought out z
