Former Panther QB Basanez goes to the Bears
It looks like QB Brett Basanez, at times the Panthers 3rd string QB over the past two seasons has signed with the Bears to compete for the back-up QB slot. Basanez is from the Chicago area so this is sort of a homecoming for him.
'Everywhere you go, there is going to be competition,'' Basanez said. ''The fact that I get to come home and play for the hometown team, there is nothing more you could want than that.
This is a good move for Brett considering he was a long-shot to make the Panthers roster in 2009. Brett spent the 2008 season on the Panthers practice squad.

I was hoping he as our Tom Brady
I wish him well. I hope this means Matt Moore gets more reps.

From Schefner himself… Cowher wants to be in Carolina, and very well could be in 2010!
