Carolina Panthers vs. New York Giants - My (Chris Harris') Thoughts

Aaaaaah... MAN!  The win yesterday was AMAZING!  For us to go into Giants Stadium and do what we did is simply incredible!

Star-divide

Going into the game we knew we weren't playoff bound, so we wanted to play the Grinch and spoil their chance of hitting the post season, as well.  By looking at the score, it appears that we accomplished what we set out to do and then some...

The offense played a phenomenal game as they posted FORTY ONE POINTS!  Jonathan Stewart helped secure a lion's share of those points as he ran for 200+ rushing yards against a rock solid Giants defense.  If it were up to me, he'd definitely receive the game ball.

Speaking of ridiculous rushing stats, Jonathan and DeAngelo have put together two outstanding seasons.  Both of them have each surpassed a thousand rushing yards this year!  I believe that accomplishment stands as one of the few times in NFL history one team has had a couple of thousand yard rushers.  Nice work, y'all!

Defensively, I felt we had another great game.  Throughout the entire sixty minutes, we seemed to effectively execute our approaches to shutting them down.  And you can't forget those three turnovers we caused - those were reeeeeal nice ;-)

I'm so excited about the way we're playing.  Of course, these quality performances have come a little too late, but that doesn't stop me from maintaining my enthusiasm for this team.  Even though we're out of the playoff picture, the team is still showing an incredible amount of heart, because these guys just DON'T QUIT!  I'll go to war with every single one of them, any day of the week.

So now we have one game left, against the New Orleans Saints.  This will be our last hoorah for the 2009 season, and we plan on making sure it's a fun one ;-)

Oh!  And one more thing... I'm going to be selecting the winners of the Christmas Caption Contest this week.  So if you have any more funny captions you want to submit, DO IT NOW!

No doubt it was a great performance Chris

The defense was just fantastic. The whole team seems inspired.

I liked the fact you didn't try to run with that fumble recovery

Just pounce on it and keep it

thoughts on matt moore and losing smith...

how impressed are you with moore and the toughness that smith showed on that arm breaker of a TD?

Is it coincidence

that the team’s performance and results have improved as Chris Harris has participated more and more in the CSR blog……????

by PantherPaddy on Dec 28, 2009 2:37 PM EST reply actions

Maybe Chris is relaying some CSR snippets to Fox & Co and they’re finally listening to us and playing the way we want them to ;) hahaha

This sounds like a man

on a team that a head coach has helped keep tight during a tough year. John Fox deserves to be the coach of this team.

Chris,
Great game yesterday. Keep that pressure on pimpin.

Great game! I was loving every second of it!

We have been talking a lot about Williams & Stewart’s accomplishments since the game ended. We just need you to kick in a few doors & make sure the announcers are paying attention! 65 yards and Double Trouble become the greatest rushing tandem in NFL history, surpassing Dunn & Vick! We will be counting down the yards as you guys gash the Saints! Lets end this season on a high note and pick it right back up next year!

Awesome game!!!

Too bad this squad couldn’t have been unleashed at the beginning of the year, but it is nice to see a strong finish. I can’t wait for 2010!

Great game Chris!

I’m the only guy in my bunker pool that picked the Panthers this week; and it wasn’t just hubris ;-)

Seriously impressive effort this year and thanks for the early Christmas present against the Vikes!

Best of luck this Sunday..

Go Panthers!

I’m looking forward to a deep run in 2010 and for you guys to kick some Bayou Booty next week!

Great game chris

nice pick. panthers team is nasty. even special teams played well. this is the team i know we are and can be. what happened? are you guys having fun now that theres no pressure?

by pantherpride on Dec 28, 2009 3:06 PM EST reply actions

Why have the Panthers sucked so much all year?

Was that a real win or are the Giants a paper team? They looked awful against the Saints and some other teams. But jeez, what a whooping by Carolina! Amazing.

For what it’s worth I hope you guys play a solid game against the Saints. We need to get back on track and if we can’t win in a stand up game against a respected division rival, then I don’t know what to think of our team.

Changing QB's jolted us, it appears.

Moore came out shaky in his first two starts, then all of a sudden everything just went up in flames against Minnesota and the Giants. We’ll see how the Vikes rebound tonight.

Hope for a good game next week and good luck in the play-offs, we’ll be watching. lol

You couldn't script a better game

171 yards + 3 TDs through the air… even better 0 INTs
247 yards + 1 TD on the ground
Defense allowed only 60 yards on the ground
Only gave up 1 TD + 2 INTs and 3 forced fumbles!

Awesome game Chris....

You guys put on a show out there. As much as is sucks not seeing you guys in the playoffs, it’s definitely made it an easier pill to swallow with such great games to close out the season.

i hope this carries over to next year

21 straight ;)

What have you done for me lately?

by Steve785 on Dec 28, 2009 10:36 PM EST via mobile reply actions

chris harris does work.

every qb needs a little experience before they get truly comfortable. something seemed to click with moore in that 4th quarter of the vikings game. he seemed to just finally get it. ever since he is playing as good, if not better than any qb in the league. he just may be that diamond in the rough. the team gets rowdy for him as well, they clearly back him.

So they weren't giving it their all for Delhomme and McCown?

Sounds like somebody owes Mr. Richardson some unearned salary.

nice website

i found this website about a week ago, and im impressed. its nice to see some true panther fans for once. i was tired of getting on the wack espn blogs.

yeah, it's a great site

I’ve only been coming here for a few months myself, and I must say as a fellow “newbie” that it’s one of the best, if not the best, Panther site(s) on the net.

by BW Smith on Dec 29, 2009 12:14 AM EST up reply actions

Just to think of what could have been

Wo just imogine what happens if the punt is not muffed against the Bills or those two field goals wern’t missed. Imagine if Dwayne’s hands we that much bigger in week 2 vs the Falcons. Imagine if steve gets his other foot in against the jets. we might just have been 10-5 looking for 11-5. This is the season for the panthers who made too many mistakes at the wrong time. Just imagine that we are 13th in the turnover margin now when we used to be dead last.

Welcome new CSR members…
We have missed the playoffs, but I bet a lot of teams are thanking the good lord for that fact!

Only other team as hot as the Panthers right now are the San Diego Chargers.
