Panthers vs. Saints Game Day Open Thread
Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints, Nov 8, 2009 4:05 PM EST
It's that time Panther fans for what is a critical early match-up for the Panthers. Win his game and they get back to .500 at 4-4 and show that they can compete with any team int he NFL. Lose this game and the resulting 3-5 hole may be too much to overcome to make a serious run at a wildcard playoff spot.
We've got your injury update here (and it doesn't look good). We will need WR Dwayne Jarrett to step up and add to his three catches from last week. No idea if rookie FB Tony Fiammetta will play but if he can't that has to limit the Panther play calling in some situations.
I'll get the inactives list when announced.
This is now an Open Thread!

I haven't been this fired up for a game all season.
They like to say “Geaux Saints” and in the spirit of all things French I hope the Panthers teach the Saints a little lesson about behaving like the nouveau riche.
LET’S GO PANTHERS!

Can the Panthers beat the Saints.......
well New Jersey just elected a Republican Governor ;-)
So Hell Yeah anything is possible!!!!!
Bring em on Baby!!
GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!
Let's GO PANTHERS!
I hope they are as fired up as I am!
The Superdome may technically be their home...
But WE are the owners of the Saints in their house.
I bet Double Trouble will love the feeling of that turf beneath their cleats, especially for the display their about to put on. They’ll be a blur and the New Orleans defense will have little more to say than ‘Who Dat?’
When Peppers drives Brees into the turn the QB will stand up and say ‘Who Dat?’
And when the Panthers walk out of the swamp and return to the beautiful Carolina skies, Saints’ fans wont need to say ‘Who Dat?’ because they’ll know it was the Carolina Panthers doing what they do in their home away from home.

Wow... didn't see that one coming!

FUMBLE and TB
We got the fumble, TB got their first win, the aints need a loss. freeman threw 3 TDs for TB.
Jake has been horrible all season, no doubt.
But the saints are underestimating Jake and Smitty way too much if they think they can run blitz all game

24-3
miami was up 24-3 and gave up 46 before it was all over. our defense is much better, but we gotta keep playing with desperation and heart. we can get this win, and start that march to the playoffs.
I hate to say it but Jake needs to throw down field

150

on behalf of tha dirty south: soul food, carolina blue, southern hospitality, and tha queen city
Not really...
We need to get some play action going…
it did
i hope the panthers aren’t satisfied with that. gotta minimize mistakes. so far we’ve fumbled, been sacked and had some penalties. with a lead like this, we need to cut back on mistakes and we’ll secure the victory. of course, i still wanna see a flea flicker TD to smitty
No doubt we will have to score more TDs

i still dont think the saints are legit superbowl team
the vikings are better.
A TD on a defensive TO, and another on a DWill 66 yarder
Which means no real TD drive. Defense B-, Offense D.

Nope, i Disagree with you Defense- C- and Offense D+
The D gets their grade because of the missed oppurtnities we had and Only one interception.
DeAngelo Williams.... 7.1 YPC
22 carries
Jake, 30 passes attempted
Thats why we lost

Yeah but Jake probably had half of those in the last 5 minutes

AND DeAngelo had a game ending fumble
Bottom line, the lack of a passing game is killing us. We might have to risk Jake throwing INTs or replace him… Because being one dimensional isn’t going to cut it in games like this

backed into your own goal line, defense should always expect run
D-wills probably shoulda held the ball better…. but i agree we are too one-dimensional
I disagree..
The game was already over when Williams fumbled.. it was Davidson’s play calling that put us in that position to begin with.. If he hadn’t got pass happy on our earlier drive, when Carolina was only down by 3 and was working the field and the clock with the run, we would have more than likely ended up ahead by 4 when New Orleans got the ball back, with little time left. It would have then been up to our defense to keep New Orleans out of the end zone until the clock hit 0. Everything after those idiotic pass plays that lead to our punt was inconsequential, the game was already lost thanks to Jeff.
IMHO Davidson has now cost the players of this team opportunities to win 3 games.
Dallas
Buffalo (probably could have won if we ran the ball every play…no kidding)
and today. The Ball on the NO 43, 3 pts down, 3:00+min left and he calls 3 straight deep pass routes. That is the drive to tie or win the game and he panics and tries to get it all at once.
Minor league stuff.
You are absolutely right. That was pathetic. I’m so sick of Davidson costing us these games with his idiotic play calling. We had plenty of time to run the clock down, get the TD, and make New Orleans stretch the field for another TD and hope our defense could hold up. I guess that’s beyond his ******* intelligence.
D-Will was ok
He had one great run where the Saints overcommitted. After that, he averaged about 4 ypc, still pretty good, but giving up the game changing fumble drops his grade to a C-.
good game
this just goes to prove the nfc south is the toughest div. in the league and the best

The End of Games
What is it about the end of games when we have been able to run the ball JD goes into the pass mode. It’s like a switch gose off in his head and we start doing stuff we can’t do. It was quite apparent in the first 85% of the game the coaches didn’t have any confidence in jake throwing the ball and then they change channels and think they are in another game somewhere else. They can be so clueless. I see that some of you don’t like what the defense did today, but I thought they did very well against a high powered offense like the saints. Remember we lost countless games before last week and early on the defense couldn’t stop a high school running back. We have to get back to what the real problem is and that is coaching and quarterback. The defense can only carry the team so far and they get worn out. I feel the defense did well and so did DWill even though he fumbled at the end of the game but he was getting his clock cleaned on a regular basis. Let’s just see how bad Jake and the coaches do next week.
It's Time for a new direction
Yeah i said it! It’s time for a new direction of leadership because i don’t believe we can rest on the laurels of John Foxes 1 super bowl run. Its been almost 7 years since we have been in the big game. We haven’t drafted a Quarterback since Kerri Collins and outside 2008-2009’s draft every other draft has been terrible. We will never be able to reap the rewards as a city if the owner keeps puttingpeople in charge whom only want to get paid for nothing. If you want to give away money for nothin give me a job im unemployed since early this year and sure could use it. I’ll won’t ever stop supporting my team because its not their fault the’yre loyal and respectful of John Fox. If we make a cinderella like run this year and win it all its still time for a change. To me its the defense playing so well and Jake not giving or getting any help. when he said he didn’t care what anyone was saying he means to us he’s not playing for the ones whom pay his salary he only is thinking of he and his family. Just be honest, the upper brass doesn’t want to look like an ass for giving away all that money and holding on too long but i believe its too late. For what its worth good luck defense and special teams and tell Smitty to keep his head up i still believe in him and any one else who still is trying.
