So far it is terrible

As a professional web designer and programmer, so far I don’t like it. There are to many references to outside websites, and it is costing this site a lot in performance. It takes pages a long long time to load even on our universities very fast network. Some of these connections to other sites are timing out and preventing pages from loading at all.

I would suggest tweaking some of this stuff. It appears to be getting held up on ad-serve requests, or maybe some sort of traffic monitoring service.

Yeah, getting similar feedback via the internal email thread on that

BTW, we looking to adding to our development staff:

We are looking to hire a software developer and an operations
engineer. Details can be found here:

http://www.sbnation.com/jobs

Just FYI. Thanks for the feedback bigdavis

Same

It’s calling outside sites that are ridiculously slow.

It's a mess right now.

I’m fine with the typeface changes, but like Tater596 it’s moving like a snail on my work’s network (where I get most of my posting done- lol).

If it helps your web folks

The problems seem to be when connections are made to:

sitemeter.com

Also, I am not having nearly as many problems in Internet Explorer as I am in Firefox.

I’m using IE at work and home (though I occasionally use Firefox at home, too). Looks like IE is getting along okay.

Something odd I noticed...

…is it just me or are extra breaks between paragraphs not registering right when we submit a post? The text is getting compressed because the site is now eliminating extra carriage returns.

I am also having this problem. Really messing up my posts.

This looks awful.

Tons of empty space. It looks like somebody’s bad web design class project.

Remember when the Panthers had a good offensive line? Yeah, me too.

One the plus side:

It’s running a little faster this afternoon than it was this morning. My work has IE 7 though… so I’ll test with Firefox at home.

At first, I thought I had went to the wrong website. ha

I’m not sure when the site was dragging but it has been running fine for me (on Chrome).

by D-Ranged1 on Nov 3, 2009 5:14 PM EST reply actions

It's alright by me

Though the pages do tend to load more slowly than in the past.

by SmithnCompany on Nov 3, 2009 6:37 PM EST reply actions

Now I'm home...

The site is running vastly faster on my work PC that has IE than my home network with Firefox.

For all other sites my hope PC is 2-3 times faster than my work.

I'm not a big fan of it.

This must be a sign of the end-times.

Per the SBN email thread on this topic

some bugs have been worked out regarding load times. Lot’s of similar comments to those above regarding the white spaces, fonts, pictures being centered, etc…The Techies have asked for a little more time to work on it so hopefully the they can get is scraight.

Sometime you have to take a step back to move 3 steps ahead (my positive spin of the day!)
