Panthers vs. Jets Game Day Open Thread
Carolina Panthers at New York Jets, Nov 29, 2009 1:00 PM EST
The Panthers road to recovery begins today Panther fans in the Meadowlands. I'm not even going to discuss the ramifications of a loss today for the Panthers. You know the drill of an Open Thread so I'll spare you too much chatter.
Here's s couple links from the Jets perspective, our Pass Offense vs their Pass Defense. The Jets run D vs. Our Run O. Our defense vs. their offense. I'm sure SBN's Jets blog will have an Open Thread up likewise over at Gang Green Nation if you want to discuss this game with Jets fans (maybe if we shoudl get a good lead?). Finally a Jets blog prediction.
So enough intro...this is now an Open Thread!

Losing is not an option today
We got some help from Denver on Thanksgiving. Now we need to see the Bucs, Redskins, and Vikings take care of business today and give us a little help so we can get back in the playoff race.
Let’s make Dirty Sanchez rue the day he left USC for the NFL.
It’ll be the first time since 03…….. but I’m cheering for New England today!

It’s felt like an eternity since some Panthers’ football. That’s what the Thursday game does to ya.

Todays Inactives:
Goodson, Fiammetta, Godfrey, Wilson, D. Robinson, K. Moore, Johnson, Taylor.
Feeley 3rd QB;
Smith to start; Stewart good to play.
Looks like Charley Martin is taking PT from K. Moore.
I blog the Carolina Panthers at www.catscratchreader.com
I still wonder how Jarrett is better than Moore and Martin (whom I’ve never even seen catch a ball). He must be playing in some other league we don’t know about where he’s doing some amazing stuff.
Double Trouble; we've got the best running backs in the NFL that never see the ball!
I agree...
But I doubt it. Hopefully he’ll be returning, though.

I would like to see him at FB

(we can’t do it on 3rd and short b/c Gump will want to throw 40 yards downfield)

If I were Davidson I would keep it on the ground at first, try to run out of some passing looks, hope for a turnover or two, try to patiently get it back. But knowing him, he’ll probably air it out and the QB will either be a hero or potentially put up up even more picks.

He needs to be utilized in play-actions, options, sneaks, and such in my opinion. He’s too quick to stay in the pocket by design.

Dirty secret on McNabb is..
he spends too much time in the weight room, not enuf fcardio, and as a result is out of shape and is often physically spent in the 4th quarter, hence the Eagles rep for rarely stageing 4th quarter comeback wins

From Mocking the Draft...
http://www.mockingthedraft.com/pages/2010-nfl-draft-quarterbacks
2. Tony Pike | 6’6, 230 pounds | Cincinnati
Pike has deceptive quickness and athleticism, which he uses nicely in the pocket to elude the pass rush. He has good presence and doesn’t mind stepping up in pressure. Given his height and release point, Pike rarely gets passes knocked down. He’s finally added weight to his frame this offseason, bulking up from 215 pounds. That should make him more durable. Puts a good zip on his passes and can place them in tight spots. Always keeps his eyes down field. If Pike can speed up the mental parts of the passing game — reading defenses and getting rid of the ball quickly — look out.
10. John Skelton | 6’5, 256 pounds | Fordham
Skelton is the entire Fordham offense. He not only passes the ball proficiently, but he’s a good runner. Skelton will have to make a good impression in the postseason against better talent. Against lower-division talent, he shows a very big arm and good accuracy.
12. Ryan Perrilloux | 6’3, 223 pounds | Jacksonville State
Any demons from Perrilloux’s past seem to be behind him. While it’s against lesser comeptition, he is completing a high rate of passes and making very few mistakes. He’s got a pro-caliber arm and played fairly well this season against Florida State.
13. Max Hall | 6’1, 201 pounds | Brigham Young
A multi-year starter for BYU, Hall is an athletically challenged quarterback whose future looks to be in a West Coast offense. He has a quick release, but doesn’t have a lot of arm strength and his long-ball accuracy is lacking. Will get into a funk and commit turnovers in bunches.

Now how do you feel about our top 2 salary cap employees?
Peppers…..hmmmmmmm
Jake….no comment.
Peppers sufficed. He wasn’t there (as far as the boxscore, don’t know how that translates to how the game actually went) but he didn’t give the game away either. Either signs a long term deal or he doesn’t, neither being a big deal.
Jake, oh Jake. I won’t even bother talking down on him. He tried, he failed, we lose, game over. Next week, where are you?

Peppers did pretty well this game.
He forced a fumble in spite of having a broken hand. It’s clear that he’s getting better, I think he’ll be back to normal sooner than later.
Jake? Each and every week that goes by I find myself caring less and less about this season. The defense is out there tearing their ass off and our offense is handing them a big fat pile of bile in return.

What a way to end your career
That play was almost fitting in it’s incoherence. And I do think this game has ended Jake’s career.
James, you have a hell of a job in writing the optimist post this week…
It doesnt matter how may times you hit your head with a hammer
Still hurts everytime……
Good luck James.

Many folks compare Raymond Felton to the Basketball equivalent of Delhomme

Great game manager, intense... but turns the ball over too much
However in this recent 4 game winning streak, Ray has only 1 TO.

I can hear the conversation
Bill, this is Jerry.
I was wondering if I can make you reconsider your retirement.
Trust, me I can solidify it.
Meet you this Tuesday……
just saw a bcs selection show ad on tv
why would anyone want to watch a show that says …
florida/alabama vs. texas for the title
tcu, cincy, and boise — sorry but you’re getting screwed
That's sad isn't it?
Another year of flowing proof why the ranking system doesn’t work in college football, another year that the NCAA decides to casually ignore it.

Tampa just got royally f*cked in the ass.
First Atlanta clearly fumbles the ball, yet the ball is blown dead and not reviewed, one replay is shown and quickly cut.
Atlanta blows their chances, so the officials call holding (where there was none) on Tampa to give them four more chances.
Atlanta blows three of them, make a pass to the end zone on 4th. Touchdown.
Clearly, someone wanted Atlanta to win this game. I’ve never seen such a blown call on a fumble. Actually, I can’t say that. It wasn’t even a mistake, the fumble was clearly ignored. I suppose if Atlanta lost, it wouldn’t be as exciting. Tampa has nothing to win for, ATL does.
Tampa got f*cked.
Double Trouble; we've got the best running backs in the NFL that never see the ball!
